Unreliable - this will kill your eggs!,

Unless you want to hover above it and adjust the temperature every half hour, go with something else. I primed the incubator 2 days in advance of the eggs arriving to be a perfect 99.5 degrees and once I got it that temperature, left the dial alone. Without touching the stupid guage the temperature flies all over the place for no reason at all. I got the added fan with mine and it's useless as well. It stops spinning and I have to oil it to get it going again every 2 days.
I use a digital thermometer with a temperature history on it, and it shows that the incubator will be OK for like 12 hours at a time and then for no reason at all, peak at 107 degree temperature and then go back down all the way to 82. I have the eggs incubating in my house and often wake up in the morning to see the eggs are either way too hot or too cold. There is NO reason for the temperature to fluctuate so wildly. I've had many eggs destroyed by this piece of crap. I'm building my own incubator with a light bulb and a real thermostat, because ANYTHING is better than this piece of garbage. I'm sick and tired of having half-developed eggs that are killed before day 21 because of the wild temperature fluctuations.

JUNK JUNK JUNK,
This review is from: 9200/1602b Still Air Incubator (Misc.)
Have had to exchange this THREE TIMES. First one...stopped working after six hours. Second one...stopped working after 3 hours. Third one...plugged in for 1 hour and blew up. Literally, the heater inside sparked, popped and blew up. DO NOT waste your money on this product.

This incubator worked just fine for me, although the egg turner I bought with it wouldn't work properly. It didn't work when I first put it in, so I turned the eggs manually for about a week before it started working. About 3 or 4 days later it stopped working and never worked again for the rest of the incubation time. I got 4 out of 10 eggs to hatch, although I discovered one of my hens laid about 4 infertile eggs, the other 2 died during incubation. This is a great product, although I would recommend turning your eggs manually and not bothering with the automatic egg turner.

Great for the money,
This review is from: 9200/1602b Still Air Incubator (Misc.)
Bought this to hatch my own chicks on my hobby farm. Did buy the auto turner which worked great from the start. Followed directions and had an 80% hatch rate. Later bought a fan made for the incubator, installed it and had a 90% hatch rate. With the fan added and the auto turner I've just set it and never have to check it except for adding water and watching the moisture level. Thinking of buying a second.

Best incubator for the price.,

Im not sure whats up with the other reviews... as long as you set the temperature ahead of time and dont adjust it, it works great. I own three of these and its not because any have broken. All three of them work great and I plan to buy another, this year, exclusively for hatching. The incubator alone works well and when you add a fan and automatic turner they are great. One of mine has the fan that is built for the incubator and the other two have computer fans, again, all work great. When the eggs are good I hatch 90-95%. Best incubator for the money.

Successful,
This review is from: 9200/1602b Still Air Incubator (Misc.)
This actually works! I wanted a cheap way to hatch eggs for fun, but didn't feel safe rigging my own incubator. I set the temperature at the recommended number- shying to a few degrees cooler in case of fluctuations. I typically turned my eggs twice a day, kept water in the bottom, and stopped turning them 3 days before hatching. Candle them with a flashlight a week after incubation to look for veins; remove those that don't seem to be developing. Ducklings and chicks each had over 80% success. Pros: cheap, easy Cons: must turn eggs oneself

Well I already had a brinsea and bought this as an overflow so was not new to incubating. You know what? It actually works very well holds temp with minor like maybe a degree of fluctuation. Holds a ton of eggs. Would I use it on expensive eggs? Prolly no but for 50 this things performs fine. I would say keep it in a room where ambient temp is constant.

Our chickies should be hatching any day now! We were surprised when we first got this incubator that it is just a big hunk of foam. We thought that it should have some sort of outer shell. Also, at first, it did out gas a bit. But, now that it is no longer noticably out gassing, it is working very well. It holds about two-dozen eggs. And, it keeps a nice, even temperature without having to make a lot of adjustments. It is nice to be able to look in the window and see the eggs and the thermometer. Now, we are just keeping our fingers crossed for a good hatch rate!

The actual product worked fine. I did order two and only one came; I was charged for two on my credit card. I had to contact the company who finally informed me the product was backordered so the second one wouldn't be coming. I feel if I wouldn't have investigated; I would have been charged and not received anything. I needed two for my job and now and I can't complete the project planned. Poor customer service; quality product.
