4.0 out of 5 stars Great phone with lots of features
I really like this phone and actually have two of them. It has some great features and does almost anything you would want a phone to do. They had an earlier model that had a handset that was a bit more comfortable, but so far I have no complaints about this phone.

2.0 out of 5 stars great features, but very poor sound quality.
I want to give this phone a good rating because the features it provides are amazing- I can't find any phones (at least not at a reasonable price) that have all the features this phone has packed into it! I LOVE the talking caller id and the answering system is great as well. Unfortunately, I get the worst static when I use this phone to talk- worse than any other...

I want to give this phone a good rating because the features it provides are amazing- I can't find any phones (at least not at a reasonable price) that have all the features this phone has packed into it! I LOVE the talking caller id and the answering system is great as well. Unfortunately, I get the worst static when I use this phone to talk- worse than any other cordless phones I've used. It's got it quirks too- for example if i'm talking on the phone and receive an incoming call which i do not answer, the phone disconnects when the incoming caller hangs up. I can then press the phone button to pick back up my original call- but it gets a little bit annoying. I have friends who have this same phone and experience the same problems I have with it. The people I talk to regularly while using this phone are begging me to get a new phone (the intermittent static sounds are driving them crazy-as well as me!), but like I stated before, the features are so great that I'm having a hard time finding a replacement I like. But I think I'll have to purchase something new and will end up just using this phone for the answering machine and talking caller id.

2.0 out of 5 stars great answering machine, horrendous phone, February 27, 2002

I wish I'd seen the prior reviews before I bought this product last summer. As everyone has said, it has many nice features (most of which I don't need or use), but the reception and sound quality on the cordless phone are a big disappointment. The sound has a "fuzzy" quality and I've always got the volume maxed out in an attempt to hear the other person.

I really hated it at first ... so much so that I hooked my old corded phone back up and used it instead for a while. I've become sufficiently accustomed to the poor sound quality of the cordless to use it occasionally now, but only when I'm not at my desk. I still make the majority of my calls on a corded phone. That's right ... the result of buying this product is that I now have two phones on my desk where I once had one. Not exactly a glowing endorsement.

There seem to be some other quality problems as well. I exchanged the first one I bought because the '5' button on the base keypad only worked intermittently, i.e., you had to punch it at just the right angle to get it to function. And guess what? The second one has the exact same problem. But after getting two of them in a row like that, I figured there was no point in going for a third and I kept the second one.

The answering machine works well enough and that's my main use of this product. I do wish it had a battery backup to retain messages in case of a power outage, but that doesn't seem to be a very common feature in answering machines these days.

1.0 out of 5 stars Loaded with features.....But, August 26, 2001

This phone is loaded with features. The phone would be an outstanding value... if it worked. Oh the features listed on the box all seem to be there, but the reception is Horrible. So horrible, that all the features in the world wouldn't matter because I don't care how many "bells and whistles" a phone has... if I can't hold a conversation with it... Its useless to me. My 6 yr old daughter gets better reception on her toy walkie talkies than what I can get with this phone. I've had two of these phones... I have already taken the first one back and will be taking the one I exchanged that one for back tomorrow. Both had the same problem... terrible hissing sound in the handset. I'm very disappointed in AT&T.

1.0 out of 5 stars phone problems, May 28, 2001

This is a great phone with some really great features. I especially like the the ability to access the answerer from the handset. the problem has been that I have bought 2 & both are broken. The first one had several broken components including the phone button to turn on the machine. I frequently could not gat a dial tone until I smacked it on the side but then the cover on the battery would sometimes fall off & the battery would fall out. The store refused to take it back because I had bought it more than 30 days before. So I bought a second one, hoping that I could get AT&T to give me my money back on the first but they would not. Anyway, the second one works a little better but no one can hear me on either outgoing or incoming calls unless I use the headset, which is not always convenient.

I would really like to know if anyone has had similar problems. I really do like the features of the phone & have been hard pressed to find a substitute with all the same features.

As the subject is, the features and answering machine is great.
But the sound quality sucks hardcore.

And it gets hot pretty quickly.

This phone worked great until the sound on the handset started crackling in and out, and the stopped working altogether. It only took 5 months for this to happen.

It was also very complex to programme.

1.0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE phone!, August 21, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: AT&T 9370 900 MHz Cordless Speakerphone with Answering System and Caller ID (Black) (Office Product)
This phone has been a nightmare from day one. I had to return the first one I bought because the handset often refused to turn on and the answering machine was acting up. The second phone was good for about a month, then the battery refused to charge all the way, the sound quality became horrible, and the phone began cutting out on me frequently. If I sit right next to the base, turn off my fan and do not move an inch when talking, sometimes I can hear a caller through an entire phone call. On long calls I often have to hang up (or I get involuntarily cut off) and call back in order to try and clear background noise and static. The answering machine ocassionally blurts out "Please leave a message" of it's own accord--creepy late at night. I will NEVER buy another ATT phone again!

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing but trouble, March 21, 2002

I first purchased this phone about a year-and-a-half ago to replace a Panasonic cordless phone which had finally died after several years of good service. I thought that purchasing a 900 mhz would be an improvement over the Panasonic phone which was not. Was I wrong.

When I initially purchased this phone the caller ID feature would not operate. After much time spent calling the phone company to make sure that they had enabled my phone line for caller ID, we determined that the problem was probably in the phone. I exchanged the phone at the place of purchase and the new one worked.

I was happy with the phone for several months, until it's operable range from the base unit began to shrink. With my old non 900 mhz phone I could walk out of my house and to the street without losing the signal. This AT&T phone soon got to where I could not walk to the next room without getting unbearable static.

I contacted AT&T and after a little wrangling they agreed to send me a new phone.

The new unit operated fine for a few months. Then it too began to lose its range.

AT&T replaced this third phone no questions asked. (I think they realize what a lemon it is.)

I have now had this fourth unit about three months, and it too has lost its range. If you walk out of the room that the base unit is in, the static is so loud you cannot hear the person on the other end.

I plan to call AT&T as soon as I finish writing this review.

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. IT IS JUNK!!

I love the talking caller ID, but I also bought it to use the speaker phone feature. The speaker phone fades in and out. I was going to take it back and get another one but after reading the other reviews, I'll just take it back and look for something else. I'm very disappointed.
