Product Description

The sturdy and lightweight Esssential G is a technically advanced upright vacuum. It features an electronic controller that acts as a brain, monitoring a warning system that not only alerts the user to problems, such as clogs, a worn brush, a full bag, brush obstructions and when brush height is set too high for optimum cleaning, but it also automatically shuts off the vacuum, when necessary to protect the motor and belts from damage. It offers manual brush height adjustment, years of reliability, a convenient instant-use cleaning wand and suction hose, and an exterior housing with a scratch and scuff-resistant matte finish.

I purchased this model many years ago from a private vacuum shop. I needed a vac that would be relatively light weight, easy to manipulate, quiet, and good for someone with allergies; this vac fit the bill. It vacuums very well, and I believe actually helps to extend the life of a carpet. As with any machine there are pro's and con's and here are the ones I've found over the last few years. The pro's: quiet, easy to use/manipulate, very easy to change bags, good filters, filters only need to be replaced about once per year, vac has a good seal and doesn't spew out a lot of dust like some other's can so there is no vacuum "smell" that comes out (usually), accessories are easy to get/use, the roller bar is very easy to remove, change, or replace and is not directly connected to the drive belt, just push the button, pop it out, and put it back, the vac bags hold a lot of debris, the electrical cord is long, about 40 feet.
The con's: It's expensive to buy, bags (they come in boxes of 10) aren't cheap about $30 per box, the filter/service pack (box includes 10 bags, an extra sealer strip,1 intake and 1 exhaust filter) costs about $40 to $50. The electrical cord is not grounded (it's polarized however) so it gets hot to the touch. There's no light on the vacuum, and it does not automatically adjust to different floor heights or carpet thicknesses (but the knob is very easy to adjust). While the bags do hold a lot of debris, the vac does tend to loose suction as the bag gets fuller, and as it gets fuller (and/or the filters get dirtier) it can occasionally get that "vacuum smell" until a new bag is in place. This model is not self propelled.

After 3 years, not one problem! Bought at a dedicated vacuum store in Troy, MI. Vacuum bags are not locally available but are easy to buy on internet. Suction is incredible and does not spew dust/debris due to filters. Filters and bags somewhat more expensive but worth it. Very happy Sebo customer.

Bought this to replace Oreck vacuums that we use at a business. Oreck's are terrible!!! The vacuum was great in the bef=ginning, but we have had some problems. Which having problems seems to be Very Rare!!! The local dealer is very professional and quickly looks the vacuum over.
Problem areas are:
The lights on the bottom of the machine seem to have a mind of their own sometimes. They come on and off when they want even if the bag is not full(bag was brand new) or when the brush roll does NOT need replaced.
The vacuum bags pose the biggest problem for us as of now. The bag separates from the green clip on part and falls into the machine. Therefor the dirt goes into the chamber and all over the fallen bag and filter. What a MESS. This has happened probably 6 times.
The vacuum suctions seems to come and go, which makes no sense. The vacuum seems powerful, but after using it sometimes it struggles to pick up objects.

All above have been mentioned when the vacuum went to the store as they wanted to see it after the bag incident. The bags turned out to be a faulty batch from Sebo. They replaced the 4 boxes with 4 new boxes from a new batch. The lights would not do their thing at the store and the brush roll did not need replaced. So that was left alone and not repaired. As for the suction the store claims that everything is working normal.

The vacuum is a good vacuum, but for some reason we seem to have gotten literally the ONLY bad one. The dealer has never had trouble with them or the bags for that matter. People buy cases of the bags and we have never had a call that they are faulty. Sebo's are a great vacuum for commercial use, but as for household use stick to MIELE.
