2.0 out of 5 stars 976-Evil 2: The Astral Factor, September 26, 2002
This review is from: 976-Evil 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The majority of the plot deals with pretty coed Robin (Debbie James), who learns that her dean, Prof. Grubeck (Rene Assa), is a sorority girl murderer who has made a deal with the devil. In exchange for his soul, Grubeck can project his rotting ghost to kill. Leather bound bad boy, Spike (Patrick O'Bryan), joins forces with Robin who has developed a psychic link with the maniac.

Not a really horrible flick, but not really that good either. The make up effects are crude, the acting is a bit rough, and the ending is a disappointing attempt at a twist. Some of the scenes are real gems though, including one in which one of Robin's friends (Leslie Ryan) is watching It's a Wonderful Life on TV. Grubeck pops up on a commercial, sucks her into the movie, and combines it with Night of the Living Dead.

First thing first, this movie has horrible acting and the story is kinda of silly. But it is so creative and the special affects are halfway decent. But the first one was better. There is no Sandy Dennis or Stephen Gefforeys in this movie but it still lacks a awful but good movie.

2.0 out of 5 stars This may be the only 976 number Santa didn't call during the early 90's, February 16, 2011
By
This review is from: 976-Evil 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
During the giant refrigerator specs craze of the 80's and 90's Santa was on a tear maxing out his credit cards on 976 numbers he found in the back of his "adult viewing" magazines stashed in the right bottom desk drawer. Sure for most it would be obvious the person on the other end wasn't a smoking hot model and there was no such gentleman as "Hector pleased to meet you with meat to please you." Naturally Santa didn't understand this and somehow still lives in the very same state of disillusion that he did then. Long story short the choice to watch 976-Evil 2 was inspired our friend Santa and decided to honor him with the review.

976-Evil 2 starts out with a shower scene within the first couple minutes ensuring this was a film we would have given the seal of approval late night back in 94. From there we're introduced to a biker, that looks like Larry from Summer School, and he treks across country to find out why all his friends have suddenly been murdered. Along his trip he runs into Debbie James who is also trying to solve some puzzling local murders that seem to be cause by some 976 number. Turns out this number possesses anyone who calls forcing them to do some crazy stuff. Honestly not scary in any sense but quite hilarious due to extreme B acting and horrific plot.

Since we dedicated this one to Santa we were a little let down. I mean this is a guy we spent years pegging with stuff while he slept, so c'mon can't we do a little better then this. We even snuck up to a window and air horned the jiffy out of him back in the 2000's so it's only fair to honor him with something a bit more effective. It's ok though because our constitutional duty forces us to watch as much 90's B as possible so not all was lost. Maybe we should honor Santa while reviewing that movie he kept hidden inside the grandfather clock. Yeah you know, the real confusing one with the two chicks....still can't figure out what that thing was.

3.0 out of 5 stars It can't help being entertaining. Check the cast and crew, December 19, 1999
This review is from: 976-Evil 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Sorority girl murderer ...makes a deal with the devil thatallows him to escape his physical form during lights out and killothers. A friend with a psychic link is terrorized by the maniac and teams up with a leather bound bad boy to stop him. Pretty good most of the time but the make up effects are something crude and the ending is disappointing. Who would of thought? Look for the average appearences from cast members of Sorority House Massacre sequels and backgrounds for in-jokes. END

1.0 out of 5 stars 0 STARS: "976-Evil 2- The Retarded Factor" -Just plain AWFUL!!, September 14, 2007

HorrorMan "HM" (The Marsten House) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 976-Evil II (DVD)
Admittedly, I watched "976-Evil", and I did not like it. So, why did I watch the sequel? Well, I believe in being thorough when it comes to horror movies. Anyway, it was free, I was bored and it couldn't be any worse than the original, right?? Wrong!

"976-Evil 2" is about a professor who is accused of murder and put in prison. The police have the right man, but he has satan's powers by virtue of his many phone conversations with some demon or satan himself where satan grants him this power to actually leave his body and have an outer-body experience where he actually gets to kill people...thus, the term "Astral Factor".

Unfortunately, "976-Evil 2" brings back that creep Spike for another movie, even though the boy that plays Spike is one of the worst actors known to man. At any rate, only Spike really knows how dangerous this 976-Evil is. He meets his dansel in distress who has an unfortunate connection with the professor.

What transpires is really a lot of ridiculous scenes that were designed to be more of a dark comedy rather than a horror movie. There is nothing remotely scary about this garbage...it's sad really, but this was on Fearnet for free and I decided to take it in since I had seen the original which was terrible in its own right. Actually, what is bad about this sequel is the story itself...it's just totally lame. It's a joke. Indeed, the acting does NOT help this movie at all, but there is something about this professor guy that comes off totally absurd to me. Maybe it's because he tries to be funny, but the main criticism I have for this movie is that it does not even attempt to be scary or horrifying in the slightest...I don't know what they were after in this movie. It's just plain stupid.

One reviewer said this movie is awful in a good way, but I think it's just plain awful, boring and stupid. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with over one brain cell.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: 976-Evil 2 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a cheap rip off of A Nightmare On Elm Street, when a man goes to sleep, his soul/spirit comes out of him and he kills teenagers. Not a good movie, it's kind of stupid with a dumb ending.
