5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely not a boy band!
This is a great CD! You have to buy it. I'm usually not into Motown groups, but 98 Degrees is cool. "Invisible Man" really got me hooked onto them and this album is even better than the first. For those of you who associate 98 Degrees with a boy band are definitely mistaken. They are mature and can actually sing (they don't dance, also).

3.0 out of 5 stars Very Cute!
I had listened to a couple of their albums prior to this one, and I remember, none of them were bad at all. Yes, they are "pop", but they aren't annoying, something that usually comes with being a pop star. I enjoyed listening to 98 Degree's album, "98 Degrees and Rising". They are just so cute! They have nice voices, and they sound really good together. The lyrics are...

For those of you who associate 98 Degrees with a boy band are definitely mistaken. They are mature and can actually sing (they don't dance, also).

1. Intro - kinda corny but what intro isn't?

2. Heat It Up - this song makes you wanna dance and is a good way to start the CD. I really like it.

3. If She Only Knew - Good slow song. You can feel them, nice harmonies.

4. I Do (Cherish You) - very sweet song. I'd love to play this at my wedding.

5. Fly With Me - I love this song. The part where Jeff Timmons sings a long, high note is beautiful.

6. Still - Nice slow song. This song was written by 98 Degrees and it's very heartfelt.

7. Because Of You - this song will always be a hit. I never get tired of it.

8. Give It Up - this is a nice a cappella song, also written by 98 Degrees, nice harmony

9. Do You Wanna Dance - obviously, you could really dance to this song, you can also hear Drew and Justin who hardly get to sing, I like this song

10. True To Your Heart - this was the first song I hear from this album and I loved it then and I still love, Stevie Wonder sounds good in this one

11. To Me You're Everything - this song has boy band content, but it's still a good song

12. The Hardest Thing - I love this song. It should have gone #1. Loved the video.

13. She's Out Of My Life - This is definitely my all time favorite 98 Degrees song. The harmonies are so beautiful and Jeff sounds really good in this one. You might even cry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Awesome CD, March 30, 2000
This review is from: 98 Degrees & Rising (Audio CD)
Ok, I want to set the record straight: 98 Degrees ISN'T a boy band! Not only do they actually sing (versus Lip-sync) and have truly beautiful harmonies, they are much older than the true boy bands, N'Sync and BSB. Their youngest member is 24 and not a teenager. This being said, I just want to say that this album is a must-have. I like a WIDE variety of music but these guys are my fav. Their sweet harmonies warm the soul while the beautiful lyrics caress the mind. Each song on this CD has it's own beauty and distinction and each one is great. This CD is worth every penny you spend on it and I swear you won't be let down.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Wedding Reception CD!, November 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: 98 Degrees & Rising (Audio CD)
I bought this CD soon after becoming engaged to my fiance (now husband) and immediently fell in love with I Do (Cherish You) and my husband liked it as well. We had it played at our wedding and it is still my favorite song. Besides I Do, Because of You is a beautiful song. Wonderful singers, they do a fantastic job!

If you thought Backstreet Boys were a little weak,or N SYNC doesn't cut it, and you're sick of your Boyz II Men CD, 98° should give you your fix of male group harmony. This CD is excellent and well rounded, there are the token *pop* songs ("Because of You", "Fly With Me", "To Me Your Everything") but then there are disco inspired tracks ("Do You Wanna Dance", "Heat It Up") the horn filled Stevie Wonder duet ("True To Your Heart"), the mid tempo semi-ballad("The Hardest Thing") and two amazingly sung accapella songs ("Give It Up" and "She's Out of My Life") but 98°s strength lies in the ballads which they readily supply. "I Do" is the ultimate wedding song, "Still" is cliched, yet timelessly romantic, and my favorite "If She Only Knew" is just a beautiful song which Nick Lachey sings the heck out of. I'd consider this album a bridge, for a pop fan that wants to get into R&B, or a R&B fan that wants to get into pop. These guys don't need to rely on looks to sell CDs, the music will, so what if they're not number one on the charts? Their next CD may not break records but I'm sure I will definitely get many good listens out of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars MOTOWN HAS DONE IT AGAIN, September 29, 1998

Everyone knows Motown for it's talented singers but most people associate their artists to be black but they knew a good thing when they heard it. One of their newest acts is called 98 Degrees a group of 4 guys originally from Ohio. Everyone looks at them and thinks white boys can't sing R&B. Well guess what you couldn't be more wrong. This CD is my all time favorite CD of all time. It is filled with soulful love songs that we have come to expect from Motown groups. I have found many people when I recommend the 98 Degree CD say I've never heard of them but as soon as I mention the song "INVISIBLE MAN" they say I love that song. If you like that song then I recommend a million times over to buy this CD and their new CD called 98 Degrees & Rising. If you have any questions visit me at my website ore-mail me. I'll be happy to give you any info you want because I back this CD that much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, December 22, 1999

"98 Degrees & Rising" is actually the first album of the guys' that I bought, and it's just unbelievable. Jeff, Nick, Drew & Justin put so much feeling and emotion into their singing, I know it sounds corny, but I sometimes feel what the song is saying. "She's Out of My Life" isn't an original song, but the guys sang it so beautifully that I cried. No joke. Jeff & Nick did an amazing job a cappella. I've heard Michael Jackson's original, and the guys definitely sound better. They're not crying, but they put so much emotion into their singing that you can almost feel their "pain." The tracks are either fun and upbeat (Heat It Up, Because of You, Do You Wanna Dance, True to Your Heart) or heartfelt (I Do, Still, She's Out of My Life, The Hardest Thing). Jeff has changed the way he sings a little from the first album-not that he needed to, but it's definitely noticeable. And it's cool to hear Justin & Drew in "Do You Wanna Dance." It's one of my favorite albums-though I admit I am biased because 98 Degrees is my favorite, ever since I heard "Invisible Man" and "The Hardest Thing" on the radio. Anyone who likes R&B/Motown would love this CD because the guys are definitely rooted in that genre of music, and they do an excellent job on their sophomore project. "98 Degrees & Rising" is an awesome album, and the guys really are extremely talented.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that I bought this CD about a year ago, when I was going through the teenybopper phase. But now that that's over, this remains one of my favorites. The talent level on these guys is off the charts. You hear one song-full of their smooth voices and gorgeous harmonies, and you're hooked. These fellas are definitely not a part of the boyband factory. My favorite song is "She's Out Of My Life" because it's a cappella and you can (amazingly enough) hear every part.

5.0 out of 5 stars A work of art..., January 7, 2002
This review is from: 98 Degrees & Rising (Audio CD)
The boys of 98 Degrees really hit the mark with this album.

It has some fun dance rhythms and some sweet ballads. Of course, people have heard "I Do", but I think their remake of "She's Out of My Life" is probably the best song on the entire CD. It's a cappella, so you can hear the exact harmonies between the guys...and it just gives me goose bumps.

This CD is almost as good as hearing the guys in person!
