4.0 out of 5 stars a must buy for r&b listeners
to be honest, I bought this album just for the song "invisible man". as that song came to an end, I was going to turn off my cd player and let it be. but then, part of me was like, 'give these guys a chance'

I'm glad I did. as the songs played, I listened. the lyrics were rang true, the music beautiful. 98 degrees does not need to be compared to BSB...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice change of pace
I'm usually really in to rock music, but when I'm overwhelmed, this CD is a great change of pace from all the loud guitars. It's just a really pretty-sounding CD. The guys have great voices. I really like "Invisible Man". Their other album is a little better, but this one isn't bad.

4.0 out of 5 stars a must buy for r&b listeners, June 11, 2000

I'm glad I did. as the songs played, I listened. the lyrics were rang true, the music beautiful. 98 degrees does not need to be compared to BSB and Nsync. they have more of an r&b flavor to their music.

favorites of mine include the mentioned "invisible man", "was it something I didn't say", "take my breath away", and "heaven's missing an angel". these songs remind me of something that boyz to men could have done. it comes as no surprise then that they are both on the same label, motown.

anyone looking for a very listenable r&b album will be very happy with this purchase. the songs will find a place in your heart. I know they did in mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Smooth R&B, May 11, 2000
By
This review is from: 98 Degrees (Audio CD)
I have been hooked on the music of the four talented guys of 98 Degrees since this CD came out a few years ago. They are set a breed apart from the "boy bands" and I think this is obvious after listening to this album. On their debut CD they use their amazing vocals to showcase their talent in both the areas of R&B and pop. On tracks such as "Was it Something I Didn't Say," "I Wasn't Over You," and "Invisible Man" their true R&B flavor comes through sounding very similar to BoyzIIMen. On more upbeat tracks like "Come and Get It" and "Dreaming" they show definite pop promise. Overall, this album is a beautiful blend of the two genres of music and I would reccomend it to anybody looking for a good album to relax to. It definitely gives them credibility and will surprise all of the "boy band" haters.

4.0 out of 5 stars It takes a while to get used to but you'll like it...., August 1, 1999

This review is from: 98 Degrees (Audio CD)
I bought this album about six months ago after I had listened to "98 Degrees and Rising" a million times. I listened to it once and I was kind of disappointed because it didn't really sound as good as the second one. Something made me pull this CD back out recently and give it another try and I really like it now. They are not just another "boy band" and I really hope they can find a lasting place in the R&B world because they really deserve it. I think "98 Degrees and Rising" is a much better CD but this is a great start. I would definitely recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, June 20, 2005
By
This review is from: 98 Degrees (Audio CD)
I dislike it when others vote them down and classify them as a boyband. They're much better than that and they do not have mediorce voices. Get your ears cleaned. Their first cd was produced by Motown and features a lot of great R&B numbers which do show their vocal abilities. From their two releases "Invisible Man" and "Was it Something I Didn't Say" to their beautiful harmonies on "Take My Breath Away", "Hand in Hand" and "Heaven's Missing An Angel". If you appreciate an R&B/Contemporary sound than you're in for a treat with 98 Degrees' Debut Album.

5.0 out of 5 stars 98 Degrees knows how to touch your soul like no other!, October 27, 1999

This review is from: 98 Degrees (Audio CD)
I have not been able to let go of their CD's since I got them. First of all, to me and maybe some others out there, without a doubt, the best song of 98' Degrees is "The Invisible Man". Ever since I heard the song and then saw the video, I started to cry like I never cried before in my life. That song literally touches your heart and soul. I know how that feels when someone that you love doesn't see you, and only sees you as the invisible man. Man is that feeling so heartrenching. I hope these guys continue to make hits like that. I am a Fan of your FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, July 5, 2000
This review is from: 98 Degrees (Audio CD)
98º is an amazing group, with a great blend of R&B and a little pop these mainly romance songs are great. If you're looking for some nice blends of voices, without the overly pop-ish sound, buy this CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's about time!, April 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: 98 Degrees (Audio CD)
It's about time these guys are being recognized for their talent. In a genre packed with be-bop boy groups, it's nice to see one truly stand out. Both cd's have not only upbeat songs and ballads, but include accapella songs. Here these men show that they really can sing and that it is more than just an enhanced sound. I also love how they make a better sound with the four of them then do these other groups that have five. At first I thought that some of their lyrics where a bit banal, but then I thought of their target audience and realized that it was exactly what that age range relates to. I own both of their CD's and would go to see them in concert if I didn't feel I would be mobbed by thousands of teenage girls. For people who are tired of these groups where the lead singer whines and dresses like something from the Living Dead, but rather enjoy fine talented singers who are clean cut and put forth a good message and image, this is a group and CD for you. I highly recommend this CD and congratulate them on their fine talents.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good debut album, March 26, 2005

11. "Completely 10/10
12. "Don't Stop the Love" 10/10
13. "I Wanna Love You" 10/10

This is a good debut album by Nick & the rest of 98 Degrees. Although there could have been more Dance-Pop songs like "I Wanna Love You, " I like it. "Dreaming" is a song that never fails to make me feel emotional. Nick sings with much sincerity throughout this album and I hope he gets higher quality songs for his next solo album. The only songs I don't much like are "Invisible Man", it's decent, but shouldn't have been a single. "Hand In Hand" would have been better off this album. It just doesn't fit with the other songs. The best songs come in the second half of the album. I believe the reason why 98 Degrees wasn't more successful at the time was because they are an Urban contemporary band similar to Silk, Boyz II Men, etc. This is not really a pop band, they are a Urban male vocal group. Overall, a satisfactory effort with good vocals, lyrics and production.
