Purchased the Perfect Faucet - This year we remodeled our kitchen and replaced the faucet with the Delta faucet from Lowes. The price, under $350, was very reasonable. The installation went well, but I cannot imagine anyone installing this faucet that does NOT have a solid grasp of mechanical aptitude.

* Battery Life - This all came after replacing 2 sets of batteries in less than 2 weeks. I have been involved in electronics for most of my life and was just mystified why the folks at Delta offered a battery solution without an Optional adapter. I think the battery adapter should have been included with the faucet and charged a few bucks more. Marketers are always looking for ways to get extended sales and this is a no brainier to offer it as a must have accessory for $30-50. Everyone would buy it.

What you need to do - You are only going to replace the battery pack with a permanent low voltage wall unit. I did not want to wait around for Delta to figure it out, which could be months or never. Dead batteries on a faucet at anytime is a real bummer. BTW - Save the battery pack unless you have a power outage, then you can still have running water during the outage.

4.0 out of 5 stars A step above other faucets, October 12, 2009

We've been using this faucet for about 4 months. The styling and stainless steel finish complements our appliances nicely. The faucet, spray head and control handle feel solid. The spray head easily comes off the spout by tilting it slightly to release the magnet, then reattaches tightly. The sprayer hose is more than long enough to reach all corners of our large double sink and beyond. The one design flaw I can see is that the control handle has the same touch technology as the faucet. It takes some getting used to as you can't just tap the water flow up or down a notch. You must grasp and hold (as noted in the instructions) to avoid inadvertently turning the water off. The unit uses batteries and has a small blue indicator light in the black band at the base of the faucet. Overall, very stylish and a neat gadget to have when you want to turn the water on or off while your hands are messy and/or full.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delta Touch Kitchen Faucet, October 29, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Delta 980T-SS-DST Pilar Single Handle Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet with Touch2O Technology, Stainless (Tools & Home Improvement)
High quality with very nice features. Having the ability to pause the water stream or stop it just by touching the spout or handle comes in handy whether you are washing your hands or doing dishes. You can save money with this feature. The faucet looks very good with nice styling. It comes with PEX hoses and very easy connection features.

The faucet is designed for 4" to 18" spread between the handle and spout, but I do not recall that being specified in the advertisements. Our large single bowl sink caused the two to be mounted at opposite sides at the rear of the sink--20" apart center to center. I soon discovered that the spout grounding wire and the LED spout indicator cable would not reach that distance. The grounding wire is a single conductor so it was easy enough to splice and solder some additional wire to span the distance.

The LED cable is a three conductor cable with a jack and receptacle connection. To span the extra distance I purchased an extension cable from Radio Shack--designed for use with stereo connections/computer connections etc.

The faucet works well, simply and effectively. No leaks.
Worth the money!

I love the easy on-off touch feature but I find this faucet protrudes too far out in my sink. It extends about 2/3 out & consequently I get wet & my counter gets wet & sometimes my floor & cabinets gets wet. If it were scaled down a bit I would like it a lot better. Also I have an outlet under my sink for my garbage disposal. I would have preferred a plug in vs batteries. This should be an option.

3.0 out of 5 stars Battery Issue, March 25, 2010

Adding my 2 cents worth to the Pilar Touch reviews. This faucet is both functional and entertaining. I would have given it five stars plus if there was not a problem with battery life. My battery pack gave up after only two weeks of use. I'll now try Eric Kirkhuff's fix of changing the power to a dc converter. As several of the reviews stated, this item should have been supplied with a dc converter in the first place.

3-29-10; addendum to my comments above. I emailed Delta and described the battery problem. Within two business days they sent me a reply stating a replacement part and new batteries are being sent.
Excellent service. I hope this solve my problem. Delta states in their product description that the batteries should last up to 1 year. If I can get 4 to 6 months out of them I'll be happy. If not, I'll try replacing them with a dc converter.

12-2-10; The second set of batteries have now lasted 10 months and are still going strong. Seems like the electronics needed a break in period.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love our new Touch 2O Faucet, October 26, 2009

When designing our new kitchen I thought we would "splurge" somewhat with this faucet. When contemplating the purchase I was not quite convinced that this technology would significantly improve our cooking/cleaning experience. However I thought it couldn't hurt.

I must say that using the faucet is a true pleasure and I am extremely happy with our purchase. I probably save a couple minutes each day, between not having to fiddle with the temperature each time when turning on and off the water when washing my hands or rinsing dishes. In general washing dishes is slightly less tedious/more enjoyable b/c of this faucet.

This is one of the first items I show our neighbors who view the new kitchen and I seem to get a "wow" out of each visitor. The faucet is beautiful and enhances the functioning of our kitchen. My wife and I strongly recommend this faucet. Thank you Delta.

** 2 Year Update
Our Touch 2 "O" Faucet continues to work very well. We are very happy with the purchase. I find that the faucet is less responsive when I am wearing kitchen gloves. In this case dipping my glove briefly in water seems to help. During this two year period we did not need to replace the batteries until last week.....

The contractor who had installed the faucet placed the battery box on the floor under the sink. I didn't think too much of this, until last week when our faucet suddenly stopped working. Upon inspection the batteries and the inside connector on the battery box had become quite rusty as it is quite humid under our sink. I poured some CLR (Chlorine Lime Rust) in a small bucket and soaked the battery box in it. This removed all of the rust and when I reconnected it the faucet worked flawlessly.

Two years later, I still love my Touch 2 "O" Faucet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow this faucet is the Humvee of faucets!, June 24, 2010

On appearance alone this faucet is five stars. It is large and sturdy. The stainless steel finish is awesome; smooth and silky finish with grey and silver hues. I call it the Humvee of faucets for the strong appearance and size. This faucet size makes other faucets look like toys.

I honestly can't speak on installation issues. I can say the plumber enjoyed installing and playing with this faucet. He loved it. It seemed to go smoothly for him and he had a kick toying with it.

On functionality I would give this faucet a five. It is large and so larger pots clear no problem. The spray nozzle can be extended and moved from one side to the other. The spray hose appears to be strong and is flexible. The touch function works like a dream. There is a sliding button on nozzle to adjust spray to a steady stream or for spray. The control for water temperature is on the side stalk and I love how it pivots.

I have noticed some reviews mention the solonoid going bad. I just bought this so can't speak to that issue. I bought anyway because it looks like Delta support is good. I will amend this review if there is any issue in the future.

The only other thing I would mention for someone considering this faucet is the single stalk mount itself does not pivot-it stays fixed. So our sink is divided and the plumber mounted with a tilt toward one side of the sink where we do most of our dishwashing. This tilt makes it look a little off center. However this is a mounting choice and not a necessity; you could mount on center and then pull out the spray nozzle toward which ever side you need to use it. It must be that more sinks are made now without a division in the middle and our sink is old school.

To sum up this faucet is awesome. I hesitated due to price but when you see it you can appreciate the fit and finish. No regrets! Love it!

4.0 out of 5 stars An real convenience in my kitchen, January 11, 2011
This review is from: Delta 980T-SS-DST Pilar Single Handle Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet with Touch2O Technology, Stainless (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this faucet for our new house, and it has gotten heavy use for over two months now without any problems.

My husband, who is not a plumber, installed the faucet with no difficulties. He said it was a bit more complicated than installing a traditional faucet, but the enclosed instructions were straightforward.

The design is attractive without being trendy. The simple lines would probably fit well in most kitchens. We ordered the brilliance stainless and it looks good with our stainless steel sink and other appliances. The high arch design makes it easy to fill large pots; I can even fit my humidifier tank under the faucet. The faucet has a good sturdy feel to it; definitely not flimsy. The sprayer hose pulls out and retracts easily and is long enough to reach all of my large double sink. The toggle on the sprayer makes switching between spray and stream easy, and the switch stays in the last setting used. The magnet in the sprayer docking system insures that the sprayer head will never dangle below the faucet, as I have seen with many other pull-down sprayers.

One of my primary reasons for getting this faucet was so I could operate my faucet when my hands were dirty. What a convenience not to have to worry about getting the faucet messy with fish guts or chicken fat! Adjusting the flow is a little more tricky when one's hands are dirty; the control lever must be grasped and moved, rather than tapped, or the water will turn off.

Another convenient feature is an automatic shut-off. Once the water has run steadily for a set period of time, the water will shut off. No chance of an overflowing sink.

I have only two areas of very minor frustration: sometimes when I am washing a large object, the back will touch against the base of the faucet and the water will turn off. Not a huge problem, since another touch will start the water again. I've also noticed that, when I am wearing rubber gloves, the touch on/off isn't always responsive and I have to reach over to touch the control lever in order to turn the water on or off.

We have had none of the problems that some other reviewers have mentioned. If we encounter such problems in the future, I will edit this review accordingly. Meanwhile, I am happy we spent a little extra money and got this faucet.

This purchase was one of the best we have decided on when re-doing our kitchen!
I was a bit hesitant due to price and have been mulling over this for a long time before purchasing, but this is absolutely worth every penny we spend on it! We installed it back in October of last year, installation wasn't the easiest one, but that is due to all the other stuff we installed underneath the sink (garbage compactor, dishwasher all needed to be hooked).
It is SO nice not to mess up the faucet when you have messy hands from being up to your elbows in something (we have a soap dispenser with a sensor as well).
At first I was hesitant fearing it would turn on and off by itself or the cat's would be able to do so, but since installing it we have had no such problems whatsoever. I have it set to a little warmer than hand-warm and leave it on that, so there is not really a need to change the setting every time it's turned on and in all the months using it, we are still running it on the original batteries that came in the original packaging!

P.S.: it is now July 2011 and the faucet is still running perfectly - with the same battery pack it was installed with 9 months ago.

I had bought this for myself for Christmas. I have chosen a great gift. It works fantastic actually I wonder why I didn't buy this sooner. My kitchen was remodeled it was a finishing touch to the new stainless sink. Just a light touch anywhere on any part of this unit turns it on and likewise a light touch shuts it off! The price on Amazon was the best and shipping was very quick.
