4.0 out of 5 stars Pleased with the grill, July 26, 2010

This review is from: Broil King Model 986574 Signet 70 Liquid Propane 44,000 BTU Gas Grill with Rear Rotisserie Burner (Lawn & Patio)
I bought the signet 70 after many hours of online research. I was looking for cooking quality and longevity more than looks and features. My old grill produced extremely uneven heat and flareups. I have cooked on the signet 70 approximately 10 times over the last month. I noticed immediately that the difference in heat distribution was dramatic compared to anything I had ever cooked on. My first experience with the grill I let the grill preheat, then put on 12 hamburger patties and reduced to medium heat. I turned them once after 10 minutes. I had 12 perfectly, evenly cooked hamburger patties after another 10 minutes.

The grill was simple to put together. Took me about an hour with minimal help from my 10 year old son. I was not surprised by the molded plastic shelves and base (research had me expecting it). For now, it seems sturdy and secure, but only time will tell how the plastic parts hold up...I am willing to except that risk for an overall excellent grill. For the money you will get a high end cooking machine (comparable with grills that cost $200-$400 more)with some plastic components to keep the cost down. Nothing unreasonable about that...just know what you are doing going into the deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars There is NO better BBQ for the money, July 9, 2010
This review is from: Broil King Model 986574 Signet 70 Liquid Propane 44,000 BTU Gas Grill with Rear Rotisserie Burner (Lawn & Patio)
If this BBQ is in your budget, then get it! I've had mine for 5 years and I do not need anything more... this is big, reliable, super quality and well built, spits out all the flame power I need AND does rotisserie which is probably my favourite way of doing chicken and pork shoulder (yes, better than beer can)... my ignitor went but that was b/c i left the lid open in a rainstorm this year, only $9 to replace...

5.0 out of 5 stars Broil King grills ROCK!, May 11, 2010

This review is from: Broil King Model 986574 Signet 70 Liquid Propane 44,000 BTU Gas Grill with Rear Rotisserie Burner (Lawn & Patio)
This is our second Broil King grill! We bought a Broil King Imperial in 2004 and totally loved it! We just had to replace it because it was worn out and the weather was kinda taking its toll because we didn't cover it too much. We definitely knew we would buy another Broil King because they are such great grills. A lot of people may not like the looks of it because it is not all stainless steel but this thing can cook anything PERFECTLY! My husband just fixed some steak, cheese and cilantro quesadillas and they were the best quesadillas I ever had! I know that we will love using this grill because they are fantastic grills! Definitely recommend to anyone. Buy one of these instead of Weber's which are more expensive!

Grill is very well built. The heat is very even. The cast iron grates get nice and hot and sear the food well. The only thing I didn't like about it was the fact that you have to leave the lid open all the way in order to use the rotisserie so I made a little metal prop rod to keep it over the food a bit to hold in some of the heat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very satisfied, great choice, May 22, 2011

It seems that with many other brands, the higher end models cost more, but all you're really getting is a slightly larger cooking surface or a different visual appearance. With other brands, the more you pay does NOT equate to better quality! No so with Broil King! With Broil King, you actually get better quality parts as you move up with each model line. I settled on the Signet 70 mainly because it was a decent price point for burners that were better quality than regular low-end models, and had the combination of features I was looking for (I've never used a side-burner so didn't need that, but the rotisserie might be nice to try sometime). The grill cooks pretty much evenly across the entire surface, something I've never experienced with other cheaper brands.
Assembly was a bit more difficult than I expected (you expect me to fit my hand in where?!), but it was doable.

Overall, the grill is very well made and will stand up to years of grilling, no doubt. The cast iron grids are reversible, depending on what you're cooking. The only "negative" I have are the two side shelves. They are molded plastic and might not be able to handle hot plates. They take up a lot of space without much in return. I'm thinking of buying some hardwood shelving to place on them with heat resistant glue. Other than that, I'm very satisfied.
