Though I am frugal, I am aware of the many factors that must be considered in the balance of living well and affordable. 3.0 out of 5 stars good cleaner
this cleaner/reoiler pack is good. only draw back is you have to wait on the filter to dry and can take hours.best done over night..the red oil is nice so you can see if you missed any spots but can let you over oil it and that's not good for you maf...let the oil dry and lightly blow air over it to rid the access oil before installing

4.0 out of 5 stars A Smart Buy from Novice to Expert, March 7, 2011

This review is from: K&N 99-5000 Aerosol Recharger Filter Care Service Kit (Misc.)
Though I am frugal, I am aware of the many factors that must be considered in the balance of living well and affordable. I must say that the K&N air filter (not included) and recharger kit (listed here) is an easy, affordable, and effective combination of product that is well worth the buy and the time. All you do to "recharge" is liberally spray the cleaner (in spray bottle) onto both sides of the filter, let sit for ten minutes to break down the grime, let the ~natural flow~ of water (not pressurized by a nozzle) run through the inside (cleaner side) of the air filter to flush the grime out of the other side (repeat if really dirty [doesn't usually need more than once for me and I change it every 6,000-10,000 miles]), and let dry (I shake it out and then let it sit in the sun to make it dry in ten to fifteen minutes). Then, liberally spray the oil (in the aerosol can) onto the outside (the once dirty side), and let sit for about five minutes to allow for the oil to absorb. Check the crowns and grooves on the opposite side to see the places that do now have or need more oil; the filter is whitish and the oil is red in color so you will be able to see where the oil is and how much is there. Repeat until the whole filter is red with oil, wipe the excess oil from the rubber frame, install the clean filter back into your vehicle, start the engine, and listen to that air flow :D.

*NOTE: I use the cleaner and oil very liberally and one recharger kit has lasted me to my third one which I am doing right now. I still have enough for one more "less liberal" recharge for next time. Also, to thoroughly oil the filter in its grooves, it takes a little patience (which tips the five to a four star rating) but again, it's well worth it. Time to go finish my recharge! Take care and I hope this helped!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great kit, December 14, 2009

I've been using it for years on auto filters as well as my motorcycle which has an OEM non-disposable filter. It takes very little spray and will last forever. The cleaning process is simple and only takes a few minutes. The kit costs less than most replacements so it should be an easy decision for any reusable filter, even if it's not a K&N.

A bit expensive, but this item is great at doing the job it is meant to do. Always cleans and re-oils the filter without issues. Make sure to get the aerosol oil rather than the squeeze.

5.0 out of 5 stars A "Must Have" to keep your K&N Air Filter Clean--, November 4, 2008
This review is from: K&N 99-5000 Aerosol Recharger Filter Care Service Kit (Misc.)
When I purchased my K&N air filter I also bought this air filter care service kit. It has been great to keep my air filter clean. One product is to clean the filter, the other is to coat the filter to enable it to trap the dirt. Because the K&N air filter is so good, the care service kit is not used too often, but it is one thing you will not want to be without when you do service your K&N air filter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, use every 50K miles, May 11, 2010
This review is from: K&N 99-5000 Aerosol Recharger Filter Care Service Kit (Misc.)
You'll need this kit to maintain your K&N filter. I clean mine about every 50,000 miles.
Save your paper air filter (it should fit in the K&N box). Clean your K&N and use the paper filter while your K&N is drying. Then just oil the K&N and swap them back.

I have a K&N life time filter and I buy this once a year to recharge it. Works great the cleaner really cleans it well. I usually use the entire bottle of cleaner up but not the oil. The only downside is the fact you have to wait for it to try before putting it back in the car. I usually do the change before I go to bed and put it back in the car when I wake up in the morning. Taking it out cleaning and putting it back in usually takes about 30 to 40 minutes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spray is easiest, March 30, 2011

I used this on a car with 2 year old K&N filter. The car wasn't driven much, but I thought I clean it anyway. It's really easy. Spray on cleaner, wait 10 minutes, then spray with water. Dry, then spray on the red oil. Much easier using oil spray instead of the other type.

My car has 2 K&N air filters, and I used 2/3 of both cleaners and oil spray. So I can use this kit for one more. However I was more than generous (or spray-happy). I'm sure I could've easily use this kit on two filters twice (4 total), instead of 3 filters.

I purchased this along with my K&N filter to wash and respray it. I went with the aerosol version rather than the squeeze bottle for a quick and painless respray. After my filter was full of dirt, I washed it and resprayed it according to the instructions and it works like new again. Make sure you read the instructions before cleaning or spraying your filter! This is a must of you have a K&N filter.

5.0 out of 5 stars YOU NEED THIS!, August 16, 2010

This is a must if you own a reusable K&N filter. I bought a used car a few weeks ago, noticed that the guy had a K&N filter on it. Figured I'd give it a cleaning. WOW was the filter dirty. The filter was completely black and covered in road-grime. I followed the instructions provided with the "Recharge" kit. Took a little over a hour to clean, due to waiting for the filter to air dry and waiting for the oil to settle. The car is more responsive and makes a lot more power up top, according my butt-dyno. :D

Works extremely well and quickly. Brings back power and throaty tone of engine immediately. K&N is the best in the bunch.
