The 99 Most Essential Mozart Masterpieces

This is a fantastic deal, no question.

Just consider:

1)The performers are not of top rank - although they are perfectly adequate. Just not the best, so you aren't going to get a transcendent or particularly uniquely interesting performance.

2) You don't hear complete works - just movements. This isn't much of a problem if you are just popping this into your iPod, and putting it on random play along with your Coldplay and Metallica.
3)The excerpts are the ones you hear the most already, so if you are like me, the music isn't exactly fresh. But I am a bit of Classical Music Geek.

If you want to get exposed to Mozart's repertoire, this a great way to do it - but use it as a sampler - find out what you really like, and then track down a better recording of it and then listen to the complete work.

Life's too short to spend your time listening to mediocrity.

Despite the above caveats, I am going to give this 5 stars, because the deal is just so spanking good.

There is no question about the beauty in Mozart's music. Thus no
comments there.

Regarding the collection: a great one. Definitely worths its price.
Just consider the time it would take to convert your Mozart CDs into
a collection like this one. (I bought the collection when Amazon had
a $3.99 promotion but even the regular price worths it).

Amazon.com's music download is a breeze despite its insistence on
using its own downloading program. The program installs itself and
will download all songs (MP3) and stores them under a special folder
in your Music folder (directory).

I just bought this for a daily special of around $2.99 - even at the normal price of 7.99 it's a great steal. No, it's not the best of the best here. They are collected recordings of parts of several complete works. However, they are the most well-known of his repertoire, and for the price it simply can't be beat. This is great for an introduction to Mozart if you don't know where to start. Highly recommended, unless you are an experienced listener...in which case you probably already have the better recordings.

I wish X5 would re-do their earlier 99 Essential issues (Mozart, Beethoven, Bach) on the model of their later releases that have full works rather than excerpts. Concertos and symphonies were written to be listened to in their entirety.

I have become a great fan or Amazon's 99 Most Essential Collections. They have been getting better and better with the newer releases. Vivaldi, Chopin and Tchaikovsky have all included whole pieces and not just select movements. My only wish would be that they go back and release an updated version of this and the Beethoven collection with more "complete" selections. I would gladly download them again! In any event, there is no cheaper way to add this excellent music to your library, keep up the good work, Amazon and I will wait patiently for the 199 Most Essential... if that's what it will take!

I've become a big fan of these 99 song bundles. "99 Essential Chants", "99 Perfectly relaxing songs", "99 Mozart", "99 Beethoven" just keep them coming... It's a delight to discover this new music. Am I getting old? ;)

Although I really enjoy classical music I can't really distinguish Mozart from Bach. The 99 Most Essential Mozart Masterpieces are easy to listen to and are of good enough quality for my ears. I recommend this collection if you just like to listen to and enjoy this genre of musiic.

As others have said, some movements are not complte and also some of the recordings are a bit old, thus lack the clarity that I prefer with my classical collection. On the positive side, this is a STRONG collection which should suffice to most who are not anal about every little movement and having only the best sound quality. You cannot beat the price of this collection and is a great buy. I purchased with NO regrets. Hit my MP3 player and with some boosts to the mids/highs with my equalizer, it is quite enjoyable!

Everybody should have some Mozart in their MP3 collection. And at this price why not? I've listened to several of them so far and they appear to be very good quality from very respected sources. An incredible deal.

Now they just need to do the same for Beethoven and I'll be a very happy customer.

I like classical music every now and then and Amazon's price was low, which made this buy a great value.
