This review is from: GE 99379 Quartz 300-Watt Double-Ended Halogen Bulb, Type T (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have tried "off brand" halogen tubes twice. Both times, the tube quickly became blackened by some sort of internal deposit. Within a week, almost no light could escape the tube. Better to stick with a well-known brand like General Electric, even if the cost is a bit higher.

Good bulb,

Works well. Better than one from another company I bought where the ceramic cracked and sparks flew out of the bulb! This GE bulb is much better.

Broken - Twice!,

This review is from: GE 99379 Quartz 300-Watt Double-Ended Halogen Bulb, Type T (Tools & Home Improvement)
I ordered this bulb for an old World Imports Halogen Floor Lamp (similar to Torchiere Floor Lamp, Black), since they are hard to find locally.
The first bulb that came was in a basically-flat cardboard mailer with a no-name courier service (LASERSHIP) with broken online tracking, and when I opened the package, I saw that the filament was loose inside the bulb so it obviously would not work (I did try it anyway and sure enough it did not work). I asked for a replacement. The second package was better packed and came bu UPS, it was larger and had air pockets inside it, but the bulb that came was also damaged. The insulation that is supposed to be around the ends of the bulb was spread thinly over parts of the bulb surface which meant that the bulb was not sealed and the gasses could leak out and therefore would not work. GE generally makes reputable bulbs and Amazon usually has good shipping, so I am not sure who is at fault. LASERSHIP does not have great reviews in the fragile-package-handling-department (that from a Google search for "LASERSHIP reviews") which could explain the broken filament, but I am not sure how the insulation could be broken in shipping. I got a friend who drives by a place that had the bulb pick one up for me (for about the same price-per-bulb as Amazon, including sales tax).
