This Bonsai is really cool. It came on time and just as in the picture. The rocks and zen fisherman are so unique, friends keep asking where I found this bonsai! Looks really cool in my apartment, I recommend this seller and this bonsai tree. I've bought many great plants from them. thanks!!

Grandma Loved it!!!,
This review is from: Zen Reflections Juniper Bonsai (Kitchen)
I sent this to my 80 year old Grandmother for X-Mas this year... she LOVED it!! She said it came packaged wonderfully, and with no breakage whatsoever... In fact, she even asked me to write this review, because she wanted other folks to know that you cannot go wrong with sending this to someone... Highly recommended!!!!!

I searched the internet for a bonsai tree for my husband's birthday and I decided to order this one based on the other two reviews. They were right! This bonsai tree came very well packaged, on time, and is just like the picture. I also ordered the Bonsai (101 Essential Tips) (Paperback)for $5.00 on Amazon as well as the Bonsai Tool Kit, Student 5 Piece, Joshua Roth Limited. You can't go wrong with this bonsai tree! I totally agree with the other two reviewers. 5 stars!

Nothing like picture- crap,

Extremely not happy with this! I purchased this because I really liked the simplicity of the look. It looked nothing like the picture. It came with various crappy things glued to it- a house, a kid and a bird all proportionally out of whack. The bird is the same size as the kid and the house is half the size of both. The picture shows water in the pond. When I filled it with water it leaked out everywhere; when I inquired about it- the response was fill it with pretty pebbles. I was so annoyed with that.

The tree itself is fine. It comes very clumpy, but this is ideal because you can prune it into the shape and fullness that you like. I have two problems with this setting, though. First, I didn't realize the guy, the lantern, and the bridge were glued on, I thought they were more like options that would be packaged separately. You can remove the bridge easily enough, but pulling the lantern off leaves a big blob of dried white glue on your rock. I haven't tried to remove the guy, I'll leave him till I figure out how to get the glue off the rock (any ideas?). The next problem is the pool of water. When I filled it with water, it came out the drainage hole under the tree soil area. Every time I fill it, it is dry the next morning, which concerns me since I imagine it is leaking into the soil and my tree is probably already, hopefully not fatally, over-watered. (There is a clay divider, I thought maybe the clay was just soaking up the water, which is why I filled it a second and third time.) I have now filled that area with small clear glass beads to simulate water. The pool was a good idea, but not if they could not create a viable seal for it.
If you like little figurines in your bonsai setting and you can either seal the pool yourself or find something to use instead of water, this is a good tree at a good price. It arrived with a few brown (dead) needles on the bottom branches, but it was shipped to Florida via US mail when the temps are in the upper 90's. It was packed very well and arrived in a timely manner.

It had a little brown area when it came, which spread over time, and it died about 3 months after I bought it. I don't recommend.

I DID NOT LIKE IT!,

The picture shows a decent size juniper lone tree sitting tranquilly by the `pond'; in contrary, I received a tiny tree buried by many and cheap decorations with stuffs (mostly made by plastic and clay). The one I received does not look at all like a bonsai (or it looks different from the one in the picture); honestly I received an oriental plant (mixed) arrangement that I have once seen in the local China town. The container looked cheap and leaking! This item was purchased for my father, but I changed my mine - I would be too embarrassed to present it as a gift; the tiny puny tree did catch my 4 year old son attention for a few days though.

Okay for gift or beginner, not for serious enthusiast,

This tree, along with a chinese elm from the same seller (9Greenbox), are my first 2 bonsai. I've since learned to appreciate the simplistic nature of the art, and as a result, this one now seems a little busy to me. You've got the tree itself, and a big rock backdrop, a fisherman, a lighthouse, a bridge, and the whole water side (no it does not hold water, but I dont think it was ever actually supposed to). One or two of these things might be okay in itself, but there is just way too much going on here to take it seriously.
I also received a small spider with mine, which jumped in my face when i opened the box, and who I promptly extinguished without first having a chance to identify. Parts of the tree were also infused with his webbing, and were already brown and dying. The tree does have a nice shape tho, and has pretty much recovered since. On the other hand, the Chinese Elm I ordered (came in same box), is absolutely gorgeous. They're both supposedly 3-5 year old trees, but the quality difference was astounding. When compared side by side, the Juniper looked sickly. With so many sellers of this particular item, I get that its mass produced as a "starter" bonsai. However, if you have any notion that you'll be spending some time in this hobby, you'd probably be better off just buying a 5 dollar juniper from the garden store and work it yourself. Its the most common bonsai for a reason. On the other hand, if you just want a conversation piece, or a cool gift, this might work... just be aware than junipers typically will also not thrive well indoors, and apparently suffer a bit in transit.

I bought this as a present for my brother who loves fun little things. I thought a bonsai tree would be the a nice decoration to look at while studying.
The tree arrived by the deadline, is healthy, and my parents loved it. However, the dish itself has a leaking problem, which is upsetting because the fisherman is basically fishing in air instead of water. My brother likes the tree so does not want me to return it, but it is sad that this did not arrive in perfect condition. Should it not have leaked I would have given this 5 stars.

You can't really go wrong if you give someone a plant for a gift. That's how I came across this bonsai. I needed to find something for a friend of mine who has pretty much everything already. Since I have never actually seen the bonsai, I can't say too much about it. Yet, my friend loves it. It's one of the few plants that thrive inside the house and it was small enough for an office desk, but she decided to put it in her home instead.
The one thing I'd like to comment on is the customer service and delivery of the item itself. Since this item came from an Amazon affiliate I was afraid it might be delivered broken...or maybe not at all, but I didn't have to worry. A couple of days after I ordered the item, I received a call from the vendor to confirm the delivery. The woman I spoke with was very nice and she gave me a detailed description of what to do with the plant when it was received. She also included paper instructions with the plant itself. When the gift was delivered, my friend said the wrapping and packging was secure. The item arrived intact and actually lasted a couple of days at her apartment's front desk lobby. She said the plant looked extremely healthy and was fresh. She said it was a great gift! |
