4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality product but handgun didn't fit
The product was solid and I have no complaints with the exception of my handgun did not fit. For those of you looking to use the safe with a handgun that has a 6" barrel, keep looking.

I needed a bedside gunsafe that was easy and fast to get into for me, but impossible for grandchildren. I have used coded push button types, but a mispunch required starting again. I was always worried that a panic situation would find me unarmed with a gun in a locked safe. I felt the fingerprint reading INPRINT 100 would be the answer to my needs. Once I discovered the backup key was inside the battery compartment, and deciphered the diagram locating the setting button, I easily programmed in my fingerprint. The opening was fast and positive with the correct print, but refused to open with any other prints with multiple trys. I am not crazy about the electric blue color, and the "stuffed in" foam lining could be done better. I also think that the instructions could be a little clearer. I do like how nicely the safe works, and how it answers my needs. I have ordered a second one!

4.0 out of 5 stars Just what I wanted, January 25, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: 9g Products Inprint Biometric Fingerprint Safe (Tools & Home Improvement)
Purchased this to store my handgun- securely, and yet with quick access. It took me a while to figure out how to open it after programming the same finger at different angles (this is recommended to make sure you can open it quickly). It turns out you need to let the sensor know to start scanning by touching the yellow plastic area prior to placing the finger on the sensor. It can be done in one motion and it works really well. The color isn't the greatest...wish there was something more neutral in that respect.

The product met my requirements- and I am pleased. I purchased the AC adaptor and with "free shipping" the total came to $291.98. A little steep, but the peace of mind and security it offers- while still maintaining quick access are worth it to me.

I look forward to seeing this technology put onto a "real" safe (not just a metal box).

3.0 out of 5 stars No frills, it works, December 31, 2007
This review is from: 9g Products Inprint Biometric Fingerprint Safe (Tools & Home Improvement)
Fingerprint reader expects exact finger placement. If it's slightly twisted or slightly forward or back, it will not open the safe. This can be both good and bad. When door opens it springs open quickly.

It's a lightweight unit that is not air/water tight. Items inside will not be protected from fire. If you're looking for something to keep casual snoopers away, this does a fine job.

Uses 8 AA batteries or optionally an AC power pack. If power is lost you can still open it using the two supplied keys, or simply restore power - settings are remembered.

I am happy with the product, even though it is fairly expensive. I gave it three stars because the eyelets the rear cover screws into are held on with cheap adhesive akin to superglue. Two of the four screws are already useless because the glue holding the eyelets in place broke off. I opened the cover once to install batteries, and once to get the serial number for the registration card. I could glue the eyelets back in place, but for something this expensive should I have to?

As a detective with a large police department I was in need of a secure and quick option for storage of my service weapon (Glock-27) and my primary duty weapon (S&W 4026). I am pleased with the performance of the safe so far. I have noticed about 2 out 10 openings the door hangs up and does not open unless assisted. I am hoping this will get better. I will be opening and closing the safe twice a day so I will have to see how it does after a month of use. Otherwise, it takes about 1-2 seconds for it to read my fingerprint and open. Considering it takes me 1-2 seconds to retrieve my weapons from the previous storage place (High shelf in closet) I am not concerned about the time delay. I have not had a chance to see how long the batteries will last. I did not get the A/C adaptor. I would definitely program at least two fingers on both hands as well as another adult in the residence and even a trustworthy 3rd party in case you need access. I will breathe must easier using this safe as I have two small children who have developed an interest in guns. Overall I think it's a good option, however it's a pricey one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Purchase power cord with INPRINT, August 6, 2008
This review is from: 9g Products Inprint Biometric Fingerprint Safe (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've had the INPRINT for about 6 months and feel it's a fantastic product. It keeps the kids away from the gun I keep in the bedroom. However, in retrospect I wish I had purchased the optional electrical cord when I purchased the safe. I put very expensive lithium batteries in the safe expecting they would last at least a year. I have recently discovered the batteries already need replacement. Batteries were dated good till 2012 and were un-used when installed. Not big problem until you go to use the safe in an emergency and find the batteries are to low to properly open the safe. Again, great product and I plan to order the power cord "now".

4.0 out of 5 stars Light Duty Safe, May 29, 2008
This review is from: 9g Products Inprint Biometric Fingerprint Safe (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have two of these safes and they work perfectly each and every
time. They give me peace of mind knowing the grandkids (six) will not
be in a unsafe atmosphere and still the weapon is ready for my use. I
really wish there was an easier way to replace the batteries as I have
mine mounted so the safes can not be moved. This causes the back to be
hard to access. Replace the batteries yearly.

2.0 out of 5 stars Quality issues?, February 23, 2004

I am sorely disappointed. The first safe I purchased did not work with brand new batteries. I returned the safe to the store where I purchased it to get an exchange (one hour drive each way). The second safe powered up with the new batteries but the keys that were provided did not work - they were the correct keys but the lock was broken and would not open the safe. You need to open the safe to program the fingerprints. I returned the safe for a full refund! I believe if you spend a few hundred dollars for a safe it should work the first time every time. I don't feel that this safe would be reliable enough for emergencies...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, wanted something like this for a long time, May 11, 2004

Wanted to store my handgun in a secure location with quick access and this offered everything I've been looking for. The one I received was of high quality and works very well and is so cool when it opens. I'm telling everyone I know that keeps a handgun in their house.

1.0 out of 5 stars "safe" or a 7.5 pound alluminum / plastic overpriced box?, May 4, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: 9g Products Inprint Biometric Fingerprint Safe (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this to keep my hand gun in so my kids would stay out.
It did just that. Locked EVERYONE out of the unit. Scanner is very sensitive to use. I would not exactly call it a safe weighing in at a big 7.5 lbs. I would suggest to keep looking. There are much better "SAFES" avail in the same price range.
