I bought this CD thinking it was a new release from the rock band Ra. Amazon even offered it as a package with other Ra CD's. This is NOT the rock band Ra. It is an electronica group out of England. Not bad, but probably not what you were looking for.

A decade or so ago one of the most beautiful melodic goa trance CDs was created. That being Dimension 5 which was considered to be among the greatest CDs bringing a new level of emotion as it moved you through a space-like melodic journey. Since then that group has split up and gone its own ways. One of the main forces behind that team, Chris Borge-Lunde created RA. Its been awhile since his last CD and we finally are given another fantastic product, an album titled 9th.

So what is 9th? It is yet another fantastic full-on melodic trance CD composed of 10 tracks. You are in for something that is extremely melodic, quite artistic, behavioraly aggressive at many points, and at all times fast, furious and full of raw energy. The CD fits and plays like a story from first track to the end. Each track is well written and executed, rich with melodic substance that intricately lets the different layers chase one another to ultimately bring you a hell of a journey.

You will really enjoy listening to this. Its very uplifting and true to its well established audio style. Personally for me the tracks "Other Self" and "Transcendent" are among the best in goa trance I've heard the past five or so years. Listening to those two tracks is like being injected with pure energy while experiencing the highest euphoric state you can reach (and no I dont do drugs). Simply brilliant.

Overall the CD is excellent, but there are a couple of spots that could use just a little bit work to make them among the best tracks out there. I know that Chris is an incredibly talented musician and unlike many others, I have very high expectations from him. Given a little more time a couple of his tracks could be converted from great to simply amazing which would bring this CD to the bomb of bombs status. Regardless, in the end you are given an album that is a fantastic melodic journey making you want to blast this and listen to it over and over. Its a must in anyones trance collection. A
