Very Easy to Listen to,
This review is from: Book Like This (Dig) (Audio CD)
I first became aware of Angus & Julia Stone when my hairdresser mentioned I might like them after I commented that I liked the CD (Regina Spektor - Begin to Hope) which was playing. So glad I took her advice. "A Book Like This" has very quickly become my favourite CD. The vocals are almost hypnotic and soothing. Easy to listen to whether driving or sitting on train on the way home from work or even just hanging about at home.

Superb,

This is a great album for true music lovers. I love their jazz influence that plays out on a lot of the tracks. Don't miss "Private Lawns" which has a great bass line to it and the track "Silver Coin" which has great use of orchestral instruments.
These two are true artists and really should be paid attention to.

I heard a couple of songs from this brother and sister duo on public radio and was intrigued, so I bought the cd and found out that it is one of those rare cd's where the entire cd is actually really well done. The songs are all a bit moody, so know that goin in. No dance tracks here. The only problem I have with the cd is the way the duo are not really a duo but two singer songwriters who trade tracks. Angus (the brother) has an amazing voice and I found myself repeating his songs over and over again. Julia, while having a great voice, though at times it gets a bit whiny for me, is kind of a shock to the ears, coming on the track following her brothers. That, however is the only bad thing I have to say about this cd. It is well worth the money spent in my oppinion.

Angus and Julia Stone create passion and love through sound. This album is a beginning to end listen. Go ahead and buy 2 or 3 of these albums because you are going to get tired of moving the cd back and forth from your car to the house for constant listening. This was the first album from the duo I heard, and I've been in love ever since!

I actually like the concept of the two singer/songwriters trading tracks. Julia has a very strong Australian accent and an unusual voice. Angus writes his songs and sings like a young Neil Young. The songs aren't as deep as Dylan or Neil Young, although the sound is similar. I guess Australians don't have as much to be bitter about as we do in America. I did enjoy this album and am looking forward to hearing more from these two.

I wasn't sure if I would like most of the songs based on the 30 second samples, but it was free, so I figured I had nothing to lose. After I downloaded the whole CD, I realized I like all the songs. I listened to it while kayaking on a lake and sitting on a dock, it was perfect music to help me relax and enjoy the outdoors. I'm going to buy some more of their songs, they are worth the money.

My first album of Angus and Julia Stone and I love it. All the songs are mesmerizing, nice voices and rhythms. I liked the album immediately. My two favorites are Private Lawns and Silver Coin, but the whole cd is good and I will be investigating their other works. Highly recommended.

I heard this brother and sister group one day while I was in Starbucks. I was so taken with their sound that I asked the staff to get me the name of the CD. They did and when I got home that night, I bought both their CD's. I play them constantly, alternating from one to the other. They have a unique sound--very soothing. I think anyone who likes gentle sounds and intricate wording would like this group.

I bought this during the Amazon Deal of the Day a few weeks ago, and it's the best Deal of the Day purchase that I've made so far.
There are several very catchy tunes that I find going through my head - Silver Coin, Just a Boy and Mango Tree being prime examples.
