James Burton played dobro when this song was recorded to provide sliding notes for an intricate instrumental part that creates the kind of excitement bluegrass fans expect real talent to provide. The kind of immaturity this song is about comes through in the credibility gap that was undercutting respect when Buffalo Springfield wanted to challenge a society that only knows what it can make believe without much effort. A child's claim to change your name sounds like baby talk that avoids mister and MRS. being the basis for ego boundaries when people interact with weird sensations that are all around us.
