The Muppets have sung with so many people over the years, from Elton John to Tony Bennett, yet it has always seemed like their performances with John Denver were somehow the perfect match. Christmas Together is a delightful--what else?--sing-along collection of Christmas favorites as performed by Denver and the Muppets ensemble. While the usual suspects have more than their say here--Kermit, Miss Piggy--the standout piece is "Twelve Days of Christmas." What could be better than a Muppet a day? Denver leads the critters through a tender "Silent Night," which comes couched in a medley that closes with a rousing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas." "Deck the Halls" is equally raucous--about as raucous as Muppets can get. Listen for the subtle lyric adaptations and the witty exchanges between Denver and his minstrels. A year ago I reviewed a different edition of this CD which had three songs missing--"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", "When the River Meets the Sea", and "Little Saint Nick". It is nice to see that the original complete 13-song version of the album is now available again. Our four children, now ages 14 to 34, all grew up listening to this recording. We own probably 50 Christmas CDs, ranging from classical to jazz to pop. If I could own only one Christmas CD, it would be this one. Exquisitely arranged and recorded, it is a true holiday classic.

This Christmas CD will always have a special place for me. I grew up on the muppets, and the "John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together" TV special was a fond memory. I had this album on LP, and I was excited to get a CD copy.
John Denver and the Muppets do good duty to these Christmas tunes. "The Twelve Days of Christmas" is a showcase, with a different muppet taking each day. Many John Denver originals, like "The Peace Carol," are well suited to the warblers voice. Surprisingly, the muppets are all good singers, and harmonize well with John Denver, even in character.
I am happy to have the full version of this CD, and I cannot recommend this edited 10 song version. To my mind, the standout piece of this album is Rowlf the Dog's "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas," which is sadly missing. Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem's classic version of
the Beach Boy's "Little Saint Nick" is also missing. Stars deducted for this edited version, otherwise it is a 5-star album.

This album is a wonderful mix of charm and humor (read: the Muppets) and beautiful Christmas caroling (read: John Denver). It really is something you can just listen to and relax by the fire, or just go about your activities with a little bit more to cheer you up in the holiday season. Highly recommended.

I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this album as a kid! I burned the tread off the album listening to it on my Holly Hobby record player! So glad to find it and see they've included all 13 original tracks - there's another version that only has 10. I just ordered several to give as gifts this year to all of our little friends!

I must also add my love of this album to the others listed here. My family watched the Christmas special John Denver and the Muppets a Christmas Together when it originally aired, and caught it every year after that. We also immediately bought the album (back then it was an LP). I was thrilled to discover it on CD. It is one of the first Christmas albums I pull out and one of the last to be put away.
This is one of those rare blends that works beautifully. John Denver's beautiful and clear voice with the delightful Muppets. Every song is a gem from the opening 12 Days of Christmas (I still laugh every time I hear Beaker sing). The next duet of John Denver and Rowlf the Dog singing Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is very simple and touching.
There are also some wonderful non-traditional Christmas carols: Alfie the Christmas tree is a delightful story about the true meaning of Christmas, the Peace Carol and When the River Meets the Sea are both beautiful songs.
If you've never heard this album, you are in for a wonderful treat. As a final note, I was lucky enough to tape the TV special off the Disney Channel a few years back. Perhaps if people are interested in having the television special released, maybe Disney has the rights.

I love this album. I had it on vinyl when I was younger. I was disappointed with the previous edition on CD because some tracks were missing. Now they are all together. Hooray!!!

I remember watching this Christmas special on tv when I was kid. I still have the LP version. The songs on this album are a good mix of some fun songs (e.g. "Christmas Is Coming" with Miss Piggy), classic carols (e.g. "Silent Night"), and happy ballads (e.g. "A Baby Just Like You"). Unfortunately this album isn't the complete album. It only includes 10 songs instead of 13. The songs missing on this album are:
"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"
"When the River Meets the Sea"
"Deck the Halls".
Even though the album contains some good Christmas music, the album isn't complete. Therefore, I can't recommend getting it. Buy the version that has all the songs instead.

Having grown up with the muppets, first on Seasame Street and later their own series and movies, I couldn't resist getting this album. The mix of traditional and John Denver original Christmas songs is the perfect blend.
I have one warning: Be careful of the version you buy. There are CDs out there masquarding as the full 1979 version. Check the play list and make sure there are 13 tracks.

Beautiful family album
This was always one of my son's favorite Christmas shows & music. He's grown now, but still loves & enjoys this music. It's entertaining for all ages.

Muppets!
I enjoyed listening to this album on vinyl as a kid and was so happy to find it had been transferred to CD. You can listen to these tracks all day without getting bored. Read more

Precious memories!
These songs are so precious they will touch your heart. The traditional carols are well-done, but it's the original songs that really make this such a sweet album. Very emotional!

My son loves the muppets!
My husband insisted on getting this cd for our 5 year old son because he loved the music when he was a kid. I catch myself listening to it with him and enjoying the songs.
