Book Description

Lily Appleby was down on love. Her dreams trampled on, her belief in romance shattered, she was about as happy discussing Valentine's Day as a vegan discussing meat options.
Then, she met Damon in a cobbler's shop, of all places, and over a near death incident with a hairy spider and a mix up over shoes, a bond was formed. For Lily, the attraction was instant and beyond chemical. She felt as if someone filled her veins with champagne and the fizz was overflowing. For Damon, it was just as strong. So strong, in fact, that he was prepared to go to all manner of lengths to ensure that Lily ~ the girl he barely knew ~ had the best Valentine's Day ever and that her faith in love would be restored.
Or would it?

Will Lily fall hopelessly in love over a CD and a Crunchie Bar? Or will she choose NOT to love again?

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and romantic, like a box of Valentine's candy February 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Lily is so not into Valentine's Day this year. Still nursing a broken heart from her last serious relationship, she would rather sit at home than be around mushy couples in love. When her favorite pair of shoes lands her in front of a dreamy man, however, her prospects for the holiday begin to look up.

What an adorable little novella this is! Most people have suffered through at least one Valentine's Day as a singleton, I know I have. It can be depressing, and it does get a little obnoxious seeing your workmates with their flower deliveries and giant stuffed bears. So, I really felt myself relating to Lily right from the start. It is amazing how in so little time, the author is able to fully develop Lily as a character, including her backstory, and endear her to the readers.

The story is full of good old fashioned Hollywood style romance. The plot of the story is as sweet as a box of chocolate and not nearly so hard on the hips. I found myself really enchanted by both the story and the characters, despite the short length of the story; the writing is that engaging. And the ending is simply adorable.

Now that I am married, romantic stories like this appeal to me so much more. However, this story is perfect for people who find themselves single on Valentine's Day, because it gives them a shot of hope. Well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! February 8, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I've never been a fan of Valentine's day but after reading this novella I am. Although this story isn't very long you can't help but fall in love with the characters. From the very beginning Lindy Dale pulls you into the story. Never once was it slow or boring. The characters were real and enjoyable. If you like real Romance, not the really mushy non-believable stuff, you'll love this story. Lindy Dale is an amazing author who has always impressed me with her writings, this story was just as good as all of her others. I recommend this novella to anyone who even has an ounce of romance in them. Even someone, like me, can't help but love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars another L A gem! February 9, 2013
By Daisy
Format:Kindle Edition
What another chic lit gem with a delicious Australian flavour from the fabulous L A Dale!

Lily's comfortable future has disappeared to the other side of the country along with her `perfect' ex-boyfriend, Travis. Her dreamy outlook on life and wonderful plans have been upended and crushed. To her, romance was officially dead and the Valentine's Ball would not be the same.

A very long 3 months have passed and the prospect of Valentine's Day and the dreaded Ball without Travis are looming closer and closer.

But Lily is practical and mundane jobs still need to happen, like going to work and getting her pretty red pumps fixed. These are her lucky shoes and it seems, bring her more good fortune through a chance encounter with Damon.

Any reader with a slight dislike for hairy spiders will feel Lily's fear as she experiences a horrific encounter with one. But from a hairy spider and a big mix up with her lucky shoes, Lily develops an instant bond and amazing attraction to Damon. And, it seems, that Dreamboat Damon feels the same.

Damon is determined to restore Lily's faith in love by making sure she has the best Valentine's Day ever. But despite all his amazing and thoughtful gestures, it appears that Damon maybe more like Travis than she first thought ... or is he?

Readers will find an instant affinity with Lily and no doubt recognise something of themselves in her. L A Dale cleverly draws you into Lily's world and envelops you in wistful romance and down to earth, practical complications. Guaranteed, you will have to read this wonderful novella in one sitting. 5/5.

All the British /Australian references were a lot of fun! The story is short and sweet. But, a bit too crass at times.

More About the Author

Lindy has lived on an acreage in country Western Australia for the past two years, after moving from the big city of Perth. She shares this laid back lifestyle with her long suffering and handsome husband, Big G, her two dogs and a flock of sheep named after the Brady Bunch characters. She also has two fabulously talented children who are pursuing their own creative careers and will one day be famous!
Lindy began writing at University but never really wanted to be 'an author'. She wanted to be a Princess or at worst a Kindergarten teacher. Her first novel, Heart of Glass was penned in 2007 and since then she has developed her voice as a Chick Lit and Women's Fiction author. Her greatest achievement to date is having a Top Five Bestseller on the Short Stories List with Amazon early in 2013. Filled with hilarious and sweet moments the novella, A Cupid Kind of Day, is a good representation of Lindy's humorous writing style.
On a good day ~ when not at her day job teaching literacy ~ you can find Lindy lurking around Twitter and Facebook. She's a hopeless U2 and Bon Jovi fan, a rugby union fanatic, coffee and champagne lover, chocoholic, over-exaggerator, trashy TV, music and iPhone addict. If you can't Google it then it's not worth knowing!
