Book Description

An independent woman, a strong-willed man, and a love neither of them can deny.

Diana needed no one. She’d survived on her own, put herself through school, and was totally self-sufficient. And now, at twenty-six, she had a successful career in the business world. And despite the fact that her new boss, Alex Mason was dynamic and attractive, she was determined to keep it strictly professional between them.

But when unscrupulous business rivals threaten to destroy all that Alex has built, Diana finds herself falling for the hard-working man she discovers behind his formal façade. And the closer she gets to Alex, the farther she drifts from her hard-fought independence…

This Retro Romance reprint was previously published in March 1984 by Harlequin Books.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is Ms. Carpenter's debut with Harlequin February 7, 2012
A Deeper Dimension by Amanda Carpenter ~ Harlequin Romance #2605 ~ March 1984

4 Stars! ~ Diana is a young woman whose determination and hard work has achieved professional success. Having grown up abandoned in the foster care system, she's isolated herself emotionally from everyone around her. She's witty and enthusiastic, and shows caring towards others, but as soon as someone tries to cross one of her boundary lines she instinctively pulls herself back. Alex is a man driven to succeed and having taken over a company on the brink of bankruptcy, he built up a business that soon had few rivals. When Diana hires on as Alex's right hand person, she's overwhelmed with his passionate approach to everything in his life. They work well together, finding a level of camaraderie that quickly sparks into a very strong attraction. Alex tries to act on this attraction but is shocked to find Diana doesn't believe in relationships and has no desire to become involved with anyone. Diana's resolve to remain aloof falters though when a ruthless rival attempts to destroy everything Alex has worked so hard for.

This is Ms. Carpenter's debut with Harlequin and though a little rough around the edges, she weaves a very compelling love story. She has a unique voice and remarkable talent for creating passionate dynamic personalities. Ms. Carpenter also has a delightful sense of humour that breathes life into her characters and makes the witty banter a pleasure to read. I thoroughly enjoyed Alex and Diana's story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not great. September 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was one of those I'd consider a good read, but not a great 'must read'. There were times that I became bored and started to skip a few pages here and there. It also had quite a few misspelled words, and grammar errors. Not a lot, and certainly not enough to take away from the story, but I did notice them.

Would I recommend this book? Probably, but I hope the author finds a good editor to fix these minor problems.

3.0 out of 5 stars A "clean" romance. September 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is definitely not the Thea Harrison I have come to love for her Elder Races novels and novellas but it is still a well written, kissing only, romantic novel. The word "Retro" on the top L.H. side of the cover gives you a clue that it is quite a few years old - Diana uses a typewriter, remember those! Overall a decent read.

3.0 out of 5 stars good story but amateur writing. September 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Nice story and author has good potential. Wished for more passion between main characters. Story seemed a little amateurish and needed more emotion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Story September 11, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was an entertaining book and I read it quickly which indicates I wanted to discover what would happen next. The characters were developed well and the pace was great. There were many words that were spelled in the 'original' English and it threw me for a minute or two. Overall, I really enjoyed the story! Not deep and thought provoking just a good tale! Thanks!

I love the Elder Races series but this book just didn't work out for me. I really struggled with it and in the end it was a DNF.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dated but Still a Nice Romance May 29, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I picked this one up because I love Thea Harrison's Elder Races series and was curious about her early romance books. A Deeper Dimension is a contemporary romance but written in 1984 when people were still using typewriters. (I remember that but a lot of you reading this do not.) It was a nice story with great characters. I loved Diana, a very strong woman who had never had a family and really did not understand love. I wanted to hit Alex who just did not understand why Diana reacted as she did. There was a really rough journey to their HEA but they finally did get together.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice read
Somewhat predictable; but enjoyable. A little disappointed with the ending - it seemed so abrupt; like the author got tired of writing.

3.0 out of 5 stars A deeper hmmmm??
Okay story but the plot seem to be all over the place. It doesn't give closure to some of the problems that was introduced.
