Book Description

When a call for paws goes out, five friends bring their collies without question to a friend’s house. They learn the collies are needed to help seven children with the grief of losing a parent in Iraq or Afghanistan. Now, with seven friends, four collie yearlings and their mother, they set out to help the children.

Not far away, a mother hopefully leads her seven puppies to safety from a man intent on selling them for illicit purposes.

By a miracle of fate, the two mother collies find each other right before the man sells the puppies.

That Christmas morning will be one the children will remember all their lives as they are united with the puppies.

4.0 out of 5 stars Heart-Warming! November 25, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Heart-Warming!

A very heartwarming story that is perfect to read during the Christmas season. A story that reminds us of the harsh times that children go through after losing their parents to a war and how they cope with their feelings. Sometimes the best therapy a person can get to help them heal is the unconditional love and devotion of a loyal pet instead of a licensed physician.

You may tear up at the end as Kebi and her twin sister Sasha introduce Sasha's pups to a group of kids who end up being the pups new owners. It is truly amazing how the pups pick their own owners to match their own personalities. I was so glad the author listed the kid and the pup they ended up with. It was so sweet.

Great Read!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Dog Gone Christmas December 8, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Grab your tissues, dog lovers! This is a touching story - a great book to curl up with on a cold winter night. For heartache that children go through when one or both parents are taken from them, a dog can lick their tears away and put a smile back on their faces. This story touched my heart and I'm sure it will touch yours too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Tail-Wagging Fun November 27, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Not since "Lassie" have I come across a story that so poignantly conveys the intelligence and personality of collies. Downs really shines in her ability to brings the dogs' inner narrative to life. I found myself taken aback many times at the animals' intelligent behavior. If you enjoy TV programs such as "Lassie" or "Flipper," or movies like "The Adventures of Milo and Otis," then you will be in doggy heaven. I came away from reading "A Dog Gone Christmas" wagging my tail. If you love dogs, the heart-warming novella "A Dog Gone Christmas" is sure to please.

More About the Author

What does it take to be a bestselling author? Determination, skill, talent, luck or taking a risk with a venture into a totally new genre. For me it was a little of some and a lot of the others.
In 2008 when I got 2 books published I thought it was due to skill; little did I know it was more luck than anything. Over the next three years I wrote, submitted, got rejected. I then did what I tell everyone who asks; I wrote some more. I didn't give up.
More on a dare than anything I tried my hand at a regency, one of the most difficult genres because of the rule, which I might add I broke almost every one. Within two days of its release the book was on a best seller list and stayed there for two months.
Turns out it is all of the aforementioned.
After two failed marriages, one from divorce while with the other she dies unexpectedly I decided upon retirement to move. That opportunity came in September 2012 when I migrated to Texas.
For me, as a multipublished author it was one of the best things I've done to date. Now, every day I can write, creating stories to take my readers to places they can only dream about.
