Book Description

Unlucky in love, Maddie LaRocque moves to Calgary at the urging of her college roommate. Maddie’s luck goes from bad to worse when she’s laid off from her job two months before Christmas. Undeterred, she sets up a gift wrapping business in the lobby of the Drummond Building in downtown Calgary where she meets Annie, a ten-year-old who has recently lost her parents.
When Maddie falls into the arms of the building’s maintenance man it looks as though her luck is changing, but she soon learns that Brent isn’t who she thought he was.
Maddie’s roommate Lily hasn’t fared too well in the romance department either, having been used for her beauty and Asian heritage by a man in Calgary.
The moment Chase Drummond spots Lily, he’s stunned by her beauty, but Lily resists his advances, unwilling to have her heart broken by the most eligible bachelor in town.
Will a young orphan girl be able to convince the two women that love is the best gift of all this Christmas?

Editorial Reviews

Review

"A fun holiday read with not one, but two delicious heroes and two sassy heroines. .... This is a wonderful, feel-good story, perfect to get you in the holiday spirit!"
- V. Ardito, Amazon Review

"I enjoyed the story. I'm pretty notorious for skimming but the characters were interesting and the story flowed so well that before I knew it, I had reached the ending of the story without the need to skip parts. There were misunderstandings but not the ridiculous kind that get out of hand. Overall it's a cute and easy read with wonderful characters.
This is my first story from this author and I will be looking forward to reading more."

- Kit_Kat 71, Amazon Review

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Romance Book September 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a really nice romance book, I enjoyed it a lot.
Mona Ingram has a wonderful way of drawing you right into the story.
I like her writing style: not overly wordy/descriptive, and not underdeveloped, but just right for a good read.
There is more to this story than just man/woman, there is also a young orphan girl in the mix.
Reading this book will make you feel good!

NOTE: When I read this book the title was "Gift Wrapped For Christmas", which I think is a better title than "A Family For Christmas". Just my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet, Cute Story, Excellent Writing November 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The writing in this novella is really excellent, the characters are charming and believeable, the plot is interesting and well planned. Two talented roommates, Lily and Maddie, are both nursing broken hearts and very reluctant to venture into a relationship. When Maddie loses her job, she meets a sweetly adorable 10-year-old orphan, named Annie. Annie and Lily soon become fast friends, too, bonded over their mutual love of fashion and design. Throw in Annie's two gorgeous, single uncles, Chase and Brent, and what do you think is going to happen?
I really enjoyed the two strong and gutsy, yet feminine, heroines whose friendship is so special and the two charming brothers who help heal Maddie and Lily's broken hearts. (sigh) I liked that the author was able to develop the characters personalities; they weren't just beautiful/handsome, they were good and kind and moral people.
The quality of the editing is extremely good; I saw no typos, misspellings, grammatical errors or formatting issues.
This gentle, sweet story is clean: no cussing, no explicit sex scenes. I got lucky and got this as a free download from Amazon, but it is definitely worth paying for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Has everything a romance should December 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was everything I was looking for in a holiday read! This story is cute and charming. I have always been a big fan of the contemporary romances where the characters can fall in love at first sight and build a believable relationship throughout the book without the need for explicit love scenes. This book was mild-mannered in the regard that it did not contain sex scenes and yet the attraction between the characters was obvious and there was enough spark there to build an entire story around.

This book consists of two simultaneous love stories going on at the same time. As two of the characters are brothers and the female characters are roommate and best friends, the author was able to show the reader the internal feelings of those involved much more clearly and adequately than if the two sets of characters had not known each other.

This book has jerkish-ex boyfriends, gold-digging women, rich handsome men and intelligent women. There is a wonderful child and even a dog that makes this story a complete holiday joy, what is there not to love? Excellent book, Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but could have been much better . November 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The writing was good and the plot was cute without being totally unbelievable. It could have used some more plot development and relationship development between the lead characters. I didn't like that there were two romantic stories crammed into one book: they both could have stood on their own. Overall, a good quick read with cute characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars light and happy October 19, 2013
By Hunt
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I truly enjoyed this light and happy story. No great twists, no big sad breakups, just a happy go lucky story of a young woman that everything goes right for meeting a sad, rich, single dad with a daughter much too smart for her age and who has too much freedom. So, if you want a short, fun romp, grab this for a happy pick me up.
