Most Helpful Customer Reviews

DeToqueville at his insightful best. Beautiful translation. A vivid, if unflattering portrayal of life, land, and people in the newly settled and nearly settled territory of Michigan in 1831. Some inaccurate information in the introduction concerning where deToqueville and Beaumont encountered "the wilderness" they were seeking. No big deal.
