Product Description

A Dwarven Prince on a quest to reclaim his people’s stolen land will take you on a great journey. Explore a continent filled with buried treasures and unearth mysteries that have laid hidden since the Great War. Take charge of your Dwarven settlement while mining, exploring and utilizing your resources with a combination of strategy and management.

Order the inhabitants of a Dwarven settlement to dig, build and conduct research in order to strengthen the clan. Be careful though because you must defend your Dwarves from the terrible beasts that lie in the depths. A unique world is generated each time a new level starts, so you will need to dynamically adapt your strategies and tactics during each session.

As you advance, the Dwarves will level up and gain new skills; progressing from weak dwarvlings to near immortal warriors or master craftsmen. There are also rare resources to be found deeper in the earth that grant access to better buildings and equipment. However, the deeper you dig the more dangerous foes you might unleash…

Features:

  • Explore – The randomly generated maps offer replayability while also providing a sense of exploration
  • Build – customize your settlement with not only practical constructions, but beautiful ones too! Build objects you think look great, while still gaining progress. Home is where the art is.
  • Command – With an intuitive order system the player can easily control oodles of dwarves simultaneously without the need for extensive micro management
  • A 13 level, story driven campaign
  • Custom game mode: Create a world without enemies so you can build uninterrupted or spawn lots of them to increase the challenge

  • Requires Steam Client to activate.

This game is really great for its price and is basically a updated version of Dwarfs Fortress. Its really easy to get into and is very casual. The game also requires an activation for it on steam and the total download is about 1.4 GB/s. The game is really enjoyable and I can casually play it while doing other things at the same time. Also if you buy it now there's additional free content in the in-game shop which is pretty nice. The art style is interesting and the story is very humorous. This game is definatly worth the 10$ and i love it. There were some minor AI issues but its easy to overcome them and for such a cheap game its not that big of a deal. Definatly get this game if you're into games such as minecraft and strategy/management games.

A really fun little game. Can get repetitive at times but it's very, very enjoyable overall. It's nice not to have to rely on fast twitch reflexes in an RTS game.

Multiplayer and above ground combat would be nice. It is a great game but needs more action. I find it just a little boring.

If you like designing underground towns and being in a Dwarven fortress then this game is for you. However the lack of difference between levels tends to eventually bore the player. So I would look at it like this, it's a design a stronghold game, over an actual challenge game.

Overall, "A Game of Dwarves" is a wonderfully in-depth strategy game. The game has tons of replay value due to the size of the maps and the vast array of different objects you can build. Despite how complex it might all seem, it uses humor to keep things light and entertaining. There are occasions where the AI did some pretty odd things and sometimes the Dwarves needed that extra micromanagement push to get things done, but in the grand scheme of things, I had a blast. I believe it to be worth its current price tag of $9.99 (as of 10/25/12) and then some, especially if you're someone who got a lot of mileage out of games like "Dwarf Fortress" and "Dungeon Keeper." I've been waiting for a game like this ever since "Dungeons" lost its appeal, and I'm pleased to say that I wasn't disappointed.

I was able to get about 20 hours of solid entertainment from this game before it just became old and repetitive. This game just doesn't have the depth or variety to keep you engaged for much longer than that, but its probably worth the price tag.
