Book Description

Akira Malone believes in the scientific method, evolution, and Einstein’s theory of relativity. And ghosts.

All the logic and reason in the world can’t protect her from the truth—she can see and communicate with spirits. But Akira is sure that her ability is just a genetic quirk and the ghosts she encounters simply leftover electromagnetic energy. Dangerous electromagnetic energy.

Zane Latimer believes in telepathy, precognition, auras, and that playing Halo with your employees is an excellent management technique. He also thinks that maybe, just maybe, Akira Malone can help his family get in touch with their lost loved ones.

But will Akira ever be able to face her fears and accept her gift? Or will Zane’s relatives be trapped between life and death forever?

About the Author

Sarah Wynde loves sky-diving, wind-surfing, tight-rope walking and Jack Russell terriers. Or she would, if she wasn't the imaginary construct of a slightly agoraphobic, high-anxiety, former editor, current grad student who does love Jack Russell terriers but would never dream of doing any of those other things.

5.0 out of 5 stars An entertaining, compelling, fun read! December 12, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Akira Malone is young, attractive, and a practical, rational-thinking high-energy physicist... who happens to have this one little quirk. She sees ghosts. Talks to them, too. And yeah, they talk back.

When a little slip exposes that fact to her colleagues, it looks like its a career-ender.

Then, out of the blue, she receives a job offer from a enigmatic but well-connected research firm based in a sleepy Florida town. It's like tossing a lifering to drowning person, and she accepts with some trepidations.

What happens next in this wonderfully-crafted page-turner will keep you reading way past your bedtime, unwilling to put it down 'til you get to the end.

For Akira, a sharp detour in her well-planned-out future opens the door to a new life, a new love, new friends (some living, some dead), and an astonishing new purpose.

Sarah Wynde is an amazing new talent, and I can't wait to see what she follows up with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Sometimes Ireverent, Very Smart and Wholly Charming December 14, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
"A Gift of Ghosts" is a fun, sometimes irreverent, very smart and wholly charming and entertaining read.

Sarah Wynde embraces a style not often seen in today's fiction. The prose is tight and keeps moving, never bogging down with needless description. Instead the reader is given enough detail to clearly imagine the story, and the latitude to see the author's world as she will. The plot is a finely crafted, elegant piece of work that insistently demands you keep turning pages.

Not your usual romance, paranormal or otherwise, "Gift" stands out by avoiding tired tropes and cardboard cut-out characters. They obey their own motivations, and feel as though they believe themselves to be the stars of the piece, fully alive and colorful, even the ones that are dead. I found myself wishing to have a full story for almost every one of them.

Even so, Akira's story will keep your attention and even catch you by surprise. The last quarter of the book demands to be read in one sitting.

Pick this one up. It's well worth your time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, unique story - can't wait for the sequel February 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this book - hard to put down. One of the best books I've read in awhile. Very frustrated that the sequel is not available in the near future.
I won't give a plot summary as many other's have.

Pluses: Well written and well edited. A unique and different plotline in paranormal romance (I'm so sick of vampires and heroines in spike heels that slay evil creatures.) Main characters are well written. Fun humor. The discussion of physics as it applies to $ex was fabulous.

Minuses: Minor charachters are not as well fleshed out. I wanted more details on the interesting town and it's inhabitants. I wanted to see more of the family interactions.

Romance: Well done. The author avoids most of the major annoyances found in bad romance (the major misunderstanding, the love triangle, etc.) The $ex scenes are well written, often with humor. Not explicit. Not a major part of the book. Probably OK for older/sophisticated teens.

I absolutly recommend this book. It's a fun, light hearted read.
