Book Description

There is a way of living and moving and having our being that is happy and care free, and through which we can find the love to solve our problems and prevent new ones.
We need love to deal kindly and wisely with our family and acquaintances. We need love to be patient with our own errors. We need understanding to respond wisely to others and to gain insight into the nature of our own mental and emotional issues.
Few have written as beautifully and convincingly about the inner way to the blessed life as Madame Jeanne Guyon, Francois Fenelon and Michael Molinos. It is from their timeless writings that this book is gleaned. Newly edited with a special introduction by Roland Trujillo, this jewel will become one of your favorite companions as you discover in each of these three mystical writers a kindred spirit.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Guide to Inward Peace July 26, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a lightly edited edition based on the 3rd American Edition of 1846. The format is small, so you can carry it with you; something I have done for a number of years in another edition. The printing is clear with adequate margins all around and an easily readable type size. The editor, Roland Trujillo, clearly has a fondness for this work and it shows in the presentation. The 'Introduction' by Trujillo is worth reading and indicates that he has had a relationship with this work for quite a few years.

What kind of changes appear in this version of the 'Guide'? First, there is a change in biblical reference source. I'm not sure which Bible the editor is using, but it's not the King James Bible of the 1846 edition. That may or may not be significant for an individual reader.

The second notable change is in paragraphing. For example, the first paragraph of the 1846 edition contains four sentences. In this edition each sentence is given its own paragraph. What in the 1846 edition was the second paragraph, now becomes the fifth paragraph in this new edition. Personally, I find this puzzling. Not exactly disruptive, but I don't see that it serves the 'Guide' well or makes it more comprehensible. Again, personally, I prefer the original paragraphing as I think it gives the 'Guide' a clearer thematic unfolding. On the other hand, I realize that modern writers tend to shorter paragraphs and sentences and new readers of the 'Guide' might find this style more agreeable.

Other changes include moderate changes in word usage. On the whole I think the editing job was considered, respectful of the original, and allows the message of the 'Guide' to come through.

More About the Author

Hello, my name is Roland. Thanks for visiting my Author Page. I'm glad you stopped by.
I'm having fun helping people get rid of stress and improve their relationships.
Now, about my books. I suppose you are wondering which is my most popular book: it is The Myths and Mysteries of Marriage: Making Relationships Work. More people buy it than all my other books combined. I guess people are interested in relationships. I like the book too.
Which the second most popular book? Surprisingly, it is A Guide to True Peace Revisited. It is full of wisdom from some 17th century spiritual writers. I guess people recognize wisdom when they see it, and they respond to it.
Okay, you may be wondering which is my personal favorite? It's a tie. I love Santa's Take on Parenting. It's like a story book for adults but with lots of practical parenting tips. I've read it many times (when I pull it off the shelf to leaf through it, and before you know it, I read the whole thing) but it still makes me feel good.
I also have a soft spot in my heart for Mike's Story. Mike went through a lot, and he is honest about it. He overcame all his mental health issues, and I put his letters together in this book. I like to call it St. Augustine's Confessions for the 21st Century.
Once again, thanks for taking a moment to learn of me and my books. Visit me for chat or send an email.
