Awesome remake of a classic. Not a Ford guy, more a GM, but that Mustang is a beauty! Maybe they can up the ante (if the show returns) with a fine Camaro SS!
Great show, not your typical dark series, just fun and exciting!
Buy it! It will be worth it.
Oh yeah....beautiful women!

It's hard to match the original classic series, but the new Knight Rider manages to be fun and cool. It's a little lightweight, to begin with. This is pure saturday afternoon popcorn TV. So don't expect Lost or the new Battlestar. I like Val Kilmer as the voice of Kitt, and I also warmed to the Mustang after a while. The new lead actor is good in a different way to Hasselhoff was, he seems a little more vulnerable.

If you like shows with cars, good looking women and fun action storylines. You'll like this.

It may be 2004, but KITT is still futuristic! What a great series with amazing technology and some damned good plots. Watch the bonus "Knight Rider 2000: The Movie" which was first seen on NBC about 14 years ago.

What a great 80s series. Definitely recommended.

Awesome reboot of the 1980's TV Classic. They listened to viewers and retooled it further when they eliminated the governmental over site (and 3 performers who were unneeded). Full of action and clean fun. As much as I enjoy the Knight Rider of the 80's, the acting is actually better with the current series. Looking forward to viewing this series again, and again!

Ahhh... The early 1980's. Reagan was president, new wave dominated the radiowaves and MTV actually played MUSIC VIDEOS! Ask anyone who grew up during this period what their favorite non-animated show was as a kid and they'll probably say "Knight Rider." KR, as its affectionately called by some fans, may seem quirky and obscure nowadays with its atari centipede sound effects, poofie aqua-net hairdo's, over-acting and "sooo not the original artist" song usage, but we didn't care...

To us this was the best thing on TV besides Smurfs and He-Man and it appealed to our parents as well. KR was like James Bond meets Herbie the Love Bug. While our mothers drooled over the blue-eyed hunky Hasselhoff, we were captivated by the ominous-looking but friendly talking black Trans Am, K.I.T.T. (Knight Industries Two Thousand) we giggled everytime theives tried to steal KITT and failed, and we cried when KITT got destroyed (but they -always- managed to rebuild him).

The visual quality of these discs is damn pretty good. It would've been nice if they had director/actor interviews and maybe some behind the scenes words with George Barris (the guy who built all the KITT cars for the show) I can't say I care for the double sided discs, as they are terribly easy to smudge.

Just like everyone else here, I've been waiting forever for Knight Rider to come out on DVD. I grew up watching the show when my dad was station in England. We usually get the shows being shown here a year later so when I saw pilot episode. I was floored. Of course I never once thought that KITT was a Pontiac Trans AM or David Hassolhoff was just an actor a soap opera, no. In my mind that was KITT and Michael Knight and their many adventures.

Just my two cents on the Editorial. It does not do the DVD justice for the younger generation wanting to see what this show is all about. Granted that the acting and screenplay is not up to par but you can say that to most of the shows in the past. Do you really think real cowboys wore what the Lone Ranger wore back in the day? Heck no. A show is just a show but mainly to be entertained.

Finally, for those who haven't heard of Knight Rider and is just a bit curious as to what the show is all about. I would say to keep an open mind and follow the story line and you are in for one heck of treat. It is the US version of James Bond complete with a highly sophisticated piece of equipment which is KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand).

I also look forward to the upcoming big screen movie of Knight Rider still in the script stages....

More info here:

"Right now we're still working on a script," David Hasselhoff says. "The first couple of scripts came in and just weren't what we wanted. We want to get it right because there's a lot of people waiting for Knight Rider."

The magazine also asked Hasselhoff if he'll be back as Michael Knight in the film. "I'm definitely going to get back behind the wheel but we're also bringing in a young kid, probably to play my son."

And what about the car? "New car and the same car," he added.
