Book Description

A Christmas Novella: Lady Juliet Lindsay has made a colossal mistake. In the face of her parents’ rejection she realizes that a single stolen kiss could cost her everything. Sent to her aunt and uncle’s home in Scotland, she finds something in the rugged highland beauty that steals her heart…and a highland man, who seems her other half.

Iain MacLeon, chieftain of the clan MacLeon, has one thing on his mind in a time where politics are like a tempest brewing—sheep. He loves his people and his land but he didn’t know he also needed a woman to share the load. And then he sees her…the flame-haired Englishwoman who steals his heart and holds it hostage against all his beliefs and all he holds dear. But how will he persuade his clan to love her as he does?

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Sigh Worthy Book by Jamie Carie November 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Lady Juliet Lindsay never thought being sent away to visit relatives in Scotland would bring about so much excitement. When Juliet's Uncle Clyde brings the family to the highland games in Glencoe, Scotland Juliet is in awe of the splendor of the land known as God's Waiting Room! While wandering the land with her cousin Fiona, Juliet literally falls for the newly appointed, larger than life, Chieftain of the Clan MacLeon, Iain MacLeon.

When Iain MacLeon first lays eyes on the fair red-haired English beauty, he falls under her spell and when she speaks it as though all of heaven stands still to listen. Iain feels she is the other half of him he has waited his whole life for, but how can he take home to Scotland an English lass as his bride? After submitting his will to the Almighty, he turns his thoughts to something else he holds dear to his heart...his sheep!

If like me you have fallen in love with Ms. Carie's writing style, you know she is at the top of her game writing Christian Historical Romance. This novella is certainly proof of that. You have everything you know to look for in a Jamie Carie book, superior descriptive imaginary, suspense and passion!! If you are looking for a book that will light a fire deep within you, then look no further...you have found it. GREAT JOB MS. CARIE!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Christian Romance - Short and Sweet February 12, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
After reading this novella, the first thing I did was go back to the Amazon listing and see exactly how it was classified. It's not marked as such and not mentioned in the description, but this is what I would call a Christian Romance. I neither seek those out nor avoid them---to each his own--I just want readers to be expecting that it is heavily laden with comments regarding this or that being God's will, with characters stopping to pray at slightly odd moments, etc. It almost felt like the author took a "regular" romance novella and was asked to insert religious references after the fact. They didn't really fit at times.

The story is definately also of the "sweet" category, which is fine with me. There's nothing more than a chaste kiss (well after they are married, even) and the veiled references to marital bliss in the epilogue. So, if you don't like the graphic love scenes, this one is for you.

A promising story line just never quite gets the chance to develop in this short novella. Things happened outside of the story that really should have been explained (there's a hostage late in the story that made me think "what?????" and apparently something happens to the heroine's home, but we don't know what, why, or who did it) There are plenty of kilts, however, so I'll forgive the author for the other lapses.

It was a clean, sweet story. I didn't really buy that they fell so deeply in love without really spending any time together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance In The Highlands! December 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Jamie Carie has crafted a breathtaking Christmas story set in the beautiful Scottish highlands...of castles set against the backdrop of misty, verdant hills---of kilts and colorful tartans, and the seemingly ill-fated romance between a brave clan chieftain and an English lady.

After Juliet Lindsay commits an indiscretion, she is sent away in disgrace from her home in England. She falls in love with her uncle's abode in the lovely Scottish highlands and wishes never to return home again. It is here, where the Scottish clans gather for their yearly feasting and competition, that she meets the handsome and brawny clan chief, Iain MacLeon. It is a moment destined to change both of their lives forever as unexpected dangers and enemies rear their ugly heads against Juliet and Iain. Is their love doomed from the very onset?

Jamie Carie has written a wonderful Yuletide story, filled with adventure, romance, and courage. Her writing style is impeccable, as is her descriptive imagery of the green, moss-covered glens of Scotland, a place I have always wanted to visit! With a courageous heroine and hero that is impossible not to love and a spiritual thread throughout, I urge you to read this one during the holidays or any time of the year! You're sure to find yourself imagining the drone of bagpipes playing softly in the background, and perhaps grabbing a tissue or two at the satisfying conclusion. Verra nicely done, Ms Carie!

1.0 out of 5 stars Reviewed by KyBunnies March 10, 2014

Story is very inaccurate with modern words, phrases and actions. In the second chapter the author has the bagpipes playing "Amazing Grace" and according to her it is a song as old as time. As someone who learned to play Amazing Grace on the piano I can state for a fact the song is not old as time. It was not even published until 1779; author has the book set in 1714. 65 years before John Newton wrote and published the song

Fiona and Juliet speak like they are in the 21 century. Not a young miss in the early 18th century.

I have no problem reading about God in books. My problem is when authors take too much leeway and write using modern phrases in historical books.

Really, wondering if this author did any 'real' research or just used what she remembered from high school world history?

Really, how many young ladies will tell someone they just met that they were compromised? How many young ladies are going to travel with out any type of female companion? Juliet is traveling with 3 men. Only one of them is a younger brother. Not happening for the year this book is set in. Author needs to complete research before attempting to write anything historical. No unmarried lady in this time period would allow any man to sleep on the floor next to her bed. What was the author thinking? If your going to write a historical romance book at least research before writing. Remember Google is your friend.

This is NOT a historical romance book. This IS a contemporary romance with some historical stuff thrown in.

The woman on the cover should give away everything about how modern this book is written. Just look at the hair color. Anyone can tell it is from a box.

Author going on my never read and waste money on again. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!

More About the Author

Revealing secrets of the Kingdom, one story at a time . . .

Born and raised in Vincennes, Indiana, Jamie is a preacher's daughter. Road trips with her dad--to and from Bible studies across Indiana--were filled with talks of things beyond earth's bounds - creation and the fall, God and Jesus and the rapture, the earthly walk compared to the spiritual walk, and how we are born for more than what we can see or touch.
The highlight of those nights was stopping at a truck stop in the middle of the night where her dad would spend a little of the offering basket on two slices of pie and a couple of Cokes. Nothing ever felt so special as a middle of the night slice of pie with her dad. And nothing could stop the writing pouring out of her.

Poems, short stories, skits and song lyrics later, Jamie grew up and married. When her eldest son turned five she decided to try her hand at novels. Snow Angel was released by B&H Publishing Group in September 2007 and won the USA Book News "Best Books 2007" Awards winner, and 2008 RITA Awards® Best First Book finalist. It was the beginning of her dream career. Jamie has since written several books to great acclaim. Her first novella, a Christmas novella, The Snowflake, is scheduled to release October 2010.

Jamie and Tony have been married for twenty-two years and live in Indianapolis, Indiana with their three sons and a giant of a dog named Leo.

If she could only say one thing to her readers it would be, "Live the dreams God has destined you for!"
