Book Description

"A Juxtaposition of Idiosyncrasies" is the very first book Brian Shell wrote after spending years focusing on screenplays and developing his percussion talents. It was inspired when his first love encouraged him to write an autobiography because of the sheer number of scintillating true-life stories he'd share over the course of casual conversation when they coincidentally bumped into each other a decade after dating... thus, it took a chronologically-random vignette-like structure.

The bulk of it was written in 2003, and this book contains over 30 unique chapters that describe the life and reflections of someone who has seen it all and tried to live a life that honored his destiny while following his bliss. In essence, each one offers a kaleidoscopic vision of many of the facets his life has contained.

It contains perspective on everything from getting straight A's and scholarships to working in Corporate America to being taught by the best of the best in math, science, engineering, sports, music, art, screenwriting, religion, and life.

Brian's stories tell the tales of making a leap of faith and accepting the responsibilities that came from taking such an extreme risk in order to realize his aspirations.

He learned that once you are ready to manifest your destiny, it will come to you, and he hopes that this "memoir of a madman" will help you do the same with a peace of mind that lets your spirit soar with grace and flair... so you truly learn to become an eagle up there... in that rare and elegant air... of one who learns to love and care.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshingly Honest and Thought-Provoking February 4, 2012
By DK
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A candid and heartfelt chronicling of a young man's journey through the first four decades of his life. Brian takes you along for the ride as he experiences ups and downs in his personal and work life, all the while dispensing nuggets of wisdom he has gained along the way.

And what a ride it is: childhood teasing, athletic and academic challenges and pressures, romantic relationship high points and meltdowns, a harsh introduction to the often thankless and mind-numbing corporate world, a brush with Hollywood, surviving homelessness and drug abuse, philosophical exploration, and much more.

More than anything, this is the story of the evolution that Brian has gone through to become the writer, artist and musician that he is today.

A worthwhile and recommended read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Memorable memoir February 5, 2012
By Leo
Format:Kindle Edition
If each chapter of our life adds a different facet to the diamond inside, the many mini-chapters in this book show how vast and varied life can be. It's an interesting tell-all and amazingly honest.
