Book Description

Ladies' maid, Juliet Baines has gotten herself into a pickle by agreeing to go to London and taking the place of her mistress and best friend, Annabella Price, stepsister to the Duke of Wyndham. After all, what does a servant know about being a lady? But Juliet soon finds that pretending to be a lady isn't nearly as hard as guarding her heart against the folly of wanting a man who's completely out of reach.

Graeme "Grey" Roland Dominick Markwythe, Sixth Duke of Wyndham, approaches his duties as a nobleman with great dedication and meticulous care. And he's a man who is not easily fooled...except when he tries to convince himself he's not utterly and madly in love with the beautiful imposter who has turned his life upside down. Will society and his responsibilities to his noble status keep him from opening his heart to the woman he loves?

Editorial Reviews

Review

A vibrant historical tale...the slow, gratifying build of the romance between Juliet and Grey, the gentle inclusion of historical detail and the comical cast of secondary characters--including a feisty bulldog named after a neighboring noble--all make A Lot Like a Lady a pleasurable and compelling Regency romp.~Kathy Altman, USA TODAY

About the Author

Kay Springsteen makes her home in Virginia near the Blue Ridge Mountains. In addition to having written five full-length contemporary romance novels and one Regency romance, she works as an editor. When she's not editing or writing, Kay is busy with her hobbies of reading, photography, gardening, hiking in the mountains with one of her rescue dogs, spending time with her terrific family. She is a firm believer in happily ever after endings and knows one is out there for everyone; it just may not be exactly what was expected. Find Kay on Facebook and at her blog: http://kayspringsteen.wordpress.com/ Kim Bowman lives in Indiana, where she was born and raised. For the past twelve years, she has been married to her best friend, Tony. She has four wonderful, awesome children. Three she was lucky enough to inherit from her husband and one she was given by the grace of God. They live on a small farm with two of their four kids, five horses, Possum the wonder cat, and Lex the lovable pit bull. Although she has notebooks full of songs, poems, and short stories she has composed, it wasn’t until she started doing technical writing for her job that she really got the bug and decided to take her English professor’s advice and write novels for a living. 5.0 out of 5 stars A Lot Like a-Mazing April 2, 2012
By Leah
Format:Kindle Edition
Stayed up way too late and read the rest at work! Could not put it down... The main characters are so well written. The plot was smooth and tied everything together. There were only two loose ends and those are fodder for other novels (which I can't wait to read now, btw!).

Juliet takes her mistress's place in London at the duke's house, and is constantly worried she would be found out. She goes in to it thinking the duke is an arrogant, insensitive and callous fellow who cares nothing for anyone other than himself and his business.

But Grey is nothing like that. He is busy. And that busy-ness keeps him from taking notice of certain things going on around him, but Juliet changes that. And as frustrating as it is for him, her presence drives him to distraction, drawing his attention to those things he had been neglecting.

The amount of research that went into this story is evident. And the development of the relationship between the two main characters was gradually accomplished, making it that much more natural of a progression into the climax of the story -- which was intense. And the ending? Totally perfect. But you don't have to take my word for it....

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspense, intrigue, and romance April 17, 2012

I love historical fiction, but not typically romance. However, I loved this one! A Lot Like a Lady has just the right blend of romance, history, and mystery to put it over the top. The characters were well-developed, and the plot was intriguing and captivating. However, I really didn't like one thing about the book, and that's the fact that the sequel is not out yet. I have to find out what happened to...? Great book. Pick it up, turn off your phone, travel back to a time when ladies were ladies, and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Top of the Regency To You September 12, 2012

If you love Regency romance, this book is for you. Lovely details, engaging characters, in-depth emotions, all woven into a great plot. I'm not a fan of Regencies, but the blurb had me sold - plus the price, of course! Gotta admit I loved this.
