Editorial Reviews

For years, Chris Young's fans have raved about the incredible energy of his concerts. Now, with the highlyanticipated September 17 release of A.M. , the goldselling artist is poised to present a studio album that similarly reflects the power, fun, and high octane of his live shows. On A.M., his fourth studio album, Young serves up a perfect combination of hard-charging rhythms and romantic melodies, wrapped up in a production style that takes his energy up a notch. "Each album is like a time capsule and I can look at the songs on each of my albums and remember exactly why I wrote or recorded a particular song and why it was an important element of that particular album," confides Young. "The songs that comprise A.M., especially the tempo tracks, are reflective of the life I'm living right now and I love performing them live. I get to interact with the crowd in a totally different way than with ballads and utilize the whole stage to be part of the crowd."

YOUNG, who Entertainment Weekly named as one of the summer's best opening acts, spent the season on Brad Paisley's Beat This Summer Tour, thrilling old fans and earning new ones as the key middle act. Furthermore, the Tennessee native loves songwriting just as much as he loves performing - a talent that s well apparent on A.M. The album features six songs that Young co-wrote with some of Nashville's most respected songwriters, including Chris DeStefano and Ashley Gorley. The two collaborated with Young on the hard-partying title track and the pumping first single, "Aw Naw," a perfect mirror of his rowdy, infectious concert vibe.

I have ordered 10 of this CD. Every time someone hears it, they fall in love with it. I have given away all my copies and just ordered more. Two were given to people who don't usually listen to country.

You can't go wrong at all with this CD. ALL of the songs on it are fantastic. Chris takes you from one emotional high to another and everything in between. His voice is intoxicating.

I recommend A.M. to everyone. Country music lovers or not.

Chris has outdone himself on this new cd. There is not a bad song on there and in fact too many good ones to really choose just one favorite. My first listen "Lighters in the Air" was my fav but everyone was talking about how awesome "Goodbye" was so I really listened to it last night and I have to agree. My bet is that will be his next single after "Aw Naw" (which is in NO way a rock song) goes to #1 in a couple weeks. I really like "Lonely Eyes" and really each song could be released for a single and hit at least the top ten. I knew back in 2003 when I first met him that he was going to be a superstar someday and so glad everyone else is finally seeing what I saw then. Chris Young is the future of country music and will be here for the long haul. He is what country music has always been about and will prove his talent to any non believers.

Great album, and I still think Chris has the best voice in Country, but I'm a little disappointed in the direction this album heads towards a rock/pop sound. His last 2 albums really seemed to have a true country sound other than maybe one or two tracks, but this one seems to have a lot more rock in it. Which we all got a taste of with the first single. I hope he goes back to more traditional sounds next time around. I like some of the rock stuff, but there's really enough of it out there, don't really need another Jason Aldean or Brantley Gilbert. Overall enjoyed the album, think my favorite song so far is "Lonely Eyes".

If your looking for more traditional stuff, it's still out there. Easton Corbin's latest CD is top-notch and also check out Josh Turner and Clay Underwood....

If your favorite Chris Young songs are The Man I want to Be, Gettn You Home, Voices, When She's On, Take it From There, or Dashboard etc, You may not like this collection of songs as well as his last two albums. Seems like he forgot the steel guitar and the country sound that got him this far.
I know, I know it's progress, but I like Neon and The Man i Want to be much much more.Hey there is still his original Chris young I can get.
AM is just too much like other country on the radio now = if the artist has southern accent, it must be country!

28 year-old Tennessee native Chris Young releases his 4th album "A.M.". This album has some great tracks in the current top 10 hit "Aw Naw",a great melody in this tune, "Lonely Eyes", the title track, "Nothin' But The Cooler Left", "We're Gonna Find It Tonight" and "Lighters In The Air". This album should produce at least 4 big hits. Very good upbeat album, could be Chris' best album yet.

AM by Chris Young is one of the BEST albums I have ever purchased! To date Chris has released four excellent albums - all of which I could listen to all day, so it is not at all surprising that AM is such a genuinely brilliant piece of work. But with songs like We're gonna find it tonight, AM and Lonely eyes, I will be finding it in the player more often then not! Compared to Chris's previous work, this album is a bit more fun and generally upbeat. There is such a range in the 11 tracks - all which give a good presentation of Chris's marvellous vocal ability. I recommend this cd to anyone that is looking a for a line-up of fun and easy going songs for any time....

Okay, so I haven't been a fan of Chris Young from the beginning--I didn't know who he was 4 months ago. I started listening to country music again after 10 years of nursery rhymes, Winnie the Pooh, and Backyardigans. Didn't like what rock stations were playing and I had been a country fan (of sorts) 20 years ago. I was immediately impressed with Chris Young after hearing a couple of his songs on country radio. When I heard that he had won Nashville Star, I was a bit reluctant but I got over it. The rich baritone isn't something you hear all that much anywhere and the more I listened to him, the more I could hear his range and vocal control and that really won me over. I bought all of his RCA releases and was on a pretty strict Chris Young diet for the summer.

Now, about this release, a couple things:

1. This is not a ballad-filled album. I know that some of his long-time fans may be disappointed in that but I love the up-tempo stuff from him. Don't get me wrong; ballads are kind of Chris Young's trademark and rightly so. His love songs are delicious and he sings them beautifully, without ever over-selling them. But this album really showcases his versatility and it is a delight to the ears.

2. This is a short album. At a little over 37 minutes in total, this can be listened to in its entirety in one sitting. And it really can be listened to "in its entirety"--there isn't a bad song on the album. Everything is listenable and I would think highly relatable to most people out there. I can't remember the last time I WANTED to listen to an entire album front to back. That alone is a feat in itself.

Like I said, everything here is good. Personal favorites right now include "Hold You To It", "Goodbye", "Text Me, Texas" and the title track.
