Carol Round is a columnist, book author, former high school teacher, professional photographer and freelance writer. However, her favorite role is that of “Nana,” the name given her by grandchildren, Cheyenne and Brennan.

"A Matter of Faith" is a collection of faith-based columns written by Carol Round for 11 Oklahoma newspapers and one national publication. Her comforting writing style is soothing and her sage advice is enlightening. Each selection draws the reader's attention to things that are really important. She frequently ends her column with an appropriate action (Whom do you need to forgive?) or challenge (Make a difference.) for the reader.

I thought her discussions on phones was amusing, imagine God asking you to "press 3 to ask why your prayer has not been answered." Carol explains how we actually have a direct line to God anytime we need Him. Some of the topics she covers include: finances, gardening, kindness, forgiveness, fear, gas prices, garage sales and serendipity.

What I found most helpful was the list of "Ten Rules for Happier Living." I also liked the Bible verses at the start of each "devotional" and how they tie into the main message.

Carol Round begins each of her two or three page essays with a Bible verse, then gently relates the theme of the verse to events in a day or thoughts about life. She talks of interactions with children or grandchildren, her joys in gardening, understanding and dealing with stresses. She finds pleasures in small and everyday things.

The book contains various other helpful topics. Sometimes she relates incidents from Bible stories or the lives of other people.Her life has not always been smooth, but she finds good in it anyway.

Each essay in motivating and enjoyable and written in a warm conversational tone.

This collection of faith-based columns/articles put together in a book by author, Carol Round, was an inspiration to read. She did an amazing job incorporating topics with Scriptures and interesting stories. Reading this book was a refreshing and positive way to start my day.

More About the Author

CAROL ROUND, self-syndicated columnist, Christian author and inspirational speaker, began her journey with the Lord in October 2001 when she admitted her need for His guidance. Since that time, she has sought a deeper relationship with Him through reading scripture, Bible study and the personal discipline of keeping a daily prayer journal. After being encouraged by other Christian women, she has compiled her experiences with prayer journaling into "Journaling with Jesus: How to Draw Closer to God" and the companion workbook, "The 40-Day Challenge."
