This list grew out of a desire to offer children books that delight, inform and inspire. It is by no means exhaustive. A few of the books are great, most are good and some are just pure fun. But they all respect the dignity of the human being. The list includes many lesser known books that are out of print but that are well worth looking for (interlibrary loans). What a wonderful way to navigate through the library and bookstores. Trying to get your children to read good literature is one challenge. Knowing what good literature IS is another challenge. Mrs. Fagan's THOROUGH list of books has been a life-saver because I cannot read every book before my children do. This list of books has been well-thought out, not just from the standpoint of good literature, but of values and virtue as well.Thanks so much!
