Review

?Ross writes with an immediacy, a dynamism, that makes his subjects come alive on the page.? DUNDEE COURIER ?The biker historian?s unique combination of unabashed romanticism and easy irreverence make him the ideal guide to historical subjects all too easily either swallowed up in maudlin sentiment or demythologised? by the academic studies? THE SCOTSMAN

About the Author

The late David R Ross was born in Giffnock, Renfrewshire and in his early life moved to East Kilbride which remained his long-term home-town. Fascinated with Wallace and Scottish history, Ross began at the age of 17 to travel to some of the historical places known in Scotland. Ross's previous best-selling books include James the Good: the Black Douglas, On the Trail of William Wallace and On the Trail of Robert the Bruce which have all been exceptionally well received in both the UK and overseas.

This book is exactly what the title suggests. David R Ross is a great writer and has a flare for explaining history so that we fall in love with it again and again. He is a true Scot in every sense of the word.

This is the best David Ross book I have read so far. It goes through pretty much a brief history of Scotland and really brings out what it is like to be Scottish. It's both informative and funny and is a hard book to put down. I really enjoyed it and felt really proud to be part Scottish!
