This is a general reference guide on how to write for historical research. As such, if you are not a confident writer or need some guidelines on how to construct an argument in a paper, do not hesitate to get a copy for your library. On the other hand, if you have a solid background in writing and know how to read and analyze a historical text, this may not be as much use to you.

It is very helpful and covers alot of relevant issues in writing about history. I recommend it for any serious writer even though I disagree on some fringe issues.

This should be required reading for all humanities undergraduates. MLA take note: this is how a manual for writers of research papers should be presented. It is organized, portable, a clear guide to the process of collecting information, constructing and supporting a thesis, and navigating the complex sea of citations.

A excellent little source book for writing formatting and practice. I found it easier to use this book compared with the internet. If you want to learn how to work with Chicago style formatting I recommend this little book.

Very good for someone learning to write in history classes. Even high school if they are in advanced classes.

If you need this book, it is fabulous. Everything is clearly stated and explained. It provides a very solid framework for successful writing in History. However, if you are a practiced writer of History papers, this guide will be of little use to you (but then you wouldn't be ordering it if you did not have to).
