These are great buys and this cd is no different.

Two fantastic albums in one and the songs in it are the ones that defined young Donny and shot him to super-stardom!

Get this album and prepare yourself for one fabulous ride down memory lane!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars At the top. June 30, 2008
Format:Audio CD
'Portrait Of Donny' and 'Too Young' were the most successful UK albums Donny ever had. The former includes his career song 'Puppy Love' along with fun tunes like the highly catchy 'Going Going Gone (To Somebody Else)', 'Big Man' and 'I've Got Plans For You' along with his lovely ultra-smooth take of 'This Guy's In Love With You'. It's a superb album, really and I'm delighted to hear one of my favourite Donny songs, 'Let My People Go' on CD at last. It always sounded rough, being the last track on side one of the LP, but here, like the rest of the album(s), it sounds wonderful.

'Too Young' released a few months later is more of the same but isn't quite as good, IMO. It includes the hits 'Too Young' and 'Why' along with goodies like 'To Run Away', 'Lonely Boy' and 'Pretty Blue Eyes' (I LOVE 'Pretty Blue Eyes'!) but he's a little squeaky on 'Run To Him' and 'Take Good Care Of My Baby' though I'm pleased to say 'The Last Of The Red Hot Lovers' is here without that annoying fade from that 90's comp!

As I've said, both albums sound amazing and a nice touch is that the 3 b&w photos that were given away with the 'Portrait Of Donny' LP are replicated in the CD booklet. Good work, 7ts. Snap these up while you can.

5.0 out of 5 stars an excellent two-fer CD~~BRAVO, DONNY OSMOND !!! May 27, 2011
Format:Audio CD
This terrific CD has all the tracks from two of Donny Osmond's record albums entitled "A Portrait of Donny" and "Too Young." These songs are great to listen to anytime; Donny makes them all sound special with his natural talent even though he was so young when he recorded these songs. It really shows you just how much genius Donny had and still has! The quality of the sound is excellent and the artwork is very good, too.

There's not a bad track here; and Donny does a fine job of handling so many covers with panache, all the while playing with the tempo and keys a bit to put his own stamp on these numbers. "Puppy Love"is a beautiful start to the album; the lush musical arrangement really helps to make this stunning. "Hey Girl;" "Going Going Gone (To Somebody Else);" "I've Got Plans for You;" "Promise Me" all shine bright in Donny's capable hands; he sings with all his heart and soul and just one listen proves it!

"Let My People Go" and "All I Have to Do Is Dream" are really well done; it's still a pleasure to listen to these songs even all these years later! "Hey There, Lonely Girl" gets the royal treatment from Donny; and other gems include "Big Man" with music, backup vocals and just a bit of percussion to make the whole thing awesome. "Love Me" has that rock and roll flavor while "This Guy's in Love with You" reverts to a slower paced, easy listening type of ballad. "Donna" is truly beautiful music.

"Too Young" is one of my very favorite tracks on the entire CD; Donny really aces this as effortlessly as if it were mere breathing! Of course, we know it really wasn't all that easy; Donny's talent always carries him through.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Portrait Of Donny/Too Young CD December 12, 2009
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I just loved being able to reminisce the easy listening voice of Donny Osmond. Takes me back to my childhood when I used to play the vinyl records over and over again. The ballads are still great and playable again and again. On todays stereo systems, the sound is just so good. I recommend this to anyone who prefers to listen to good music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Early Donny's best albums July 4, 2008
Format:Audio CD
Although I've never been a ten year old girl, If I had one--I'd want her to like these albums!! I'm a big fan of the Osmonds music--Young Donny is probably my least favorite, but these are his best IMO. PORTRAIT OF DONNY is really good. As usual, most of the songs are remakes of 50's-early 60s hits. The thing is, Donny's versions were always better than the originals! He is such a good singer, how can anyone who likes pop music not be impressed and charmed by him? He is simply amazing and more talented than any other young performer in history IMO. He's Every mothers son singing his heart out. His parents must have been so proud of their children.
TOO YOUNG is pretty good. I love the title track, it's so heartfelt and well orchestrated. "Why" was a well deserved hit. "Last of the red hot lovers" is a fun song that I never knew. I would like to have heard some original songs, but for a 14 year old in 1972 what can you expect? His brothers career probably suffered because of his teenybopper appeal but at least he made a lot of money from these recordings. They did sell well and earned gold records. Good music is for any age and time. Don't forget to buy these albums on CD for yourself or your kids. These are classic pop tunes from the 20th century.
