There were two reasons I took a part of this book tour. The first one was the stunning cover, I loved it and decided to read more on it. Reading the synopsis I realized it was a Regency Historical Romance, then I was super excited to read this book that I read it way ahead of time.

The book is about Thomas and Evangeline, both of whom are put in a predicament by their parents to marry in haste. Thomas' father would take away his allowance if he is not wed and having a child on the way by his thirtieth birthday. Evangeline's father on the other hand would choose her future spouse if she fails to find her own soon. As they are both caught in a predicament, they decide to wed and Evangeline begins to realize that almost everything her mother told her about marriage life was a lie. However, Thomas' scandalous past is threatening to be a part of his future. Would their marriage manage to survive that?

I truly enjoyed the premise of this story. That and, the characters seemed genuinely different than one another. Which would have made for a great clash. I truly enjoy stories where one of the characters has their hand forced and tries to get out of said situation, it's quite amusing when the puppet strings are actually pulled by the parents. Sadly, I don't think the characters reached their full potential in this book. Like, if there was more bickering or argument it would have added more humor to the book. The book was good, just not as funny as it could have been what with the clash of characters. I think Thomas should have had to fight more before getting himself into the situation that forced him and Evangeline to wed.

As I've mentioned before, historical romance is a genre I am very particular with because for me everyone enjoys a different style of writing.

I admit that I love the cover on this book. It is perfect for the story within. This book captured me with the first chapter. I was fascinated with this book. When reading I got a sense that the author had stepped from the time when Jane Austen was writing. Yes, I compared this modern author to someone over a century ago.

I love the Evangeline's character. She was so strong, but she was also, needed someone like Thomas in her life. Someone that would treat her like the wonderful person is truly is.

If you are looking for a sweet wonderful read that feels like it come from the Jane Austen then check this one out. A short sweet read that would fulfill what you are looking for in a book.

Thanks for a great read Nadja.

The bunnies and I give this book 4 carrots.

Oh my, where do I begin? So, by the disclaimer above, you know that this is a bit of a steamy romance novel, very much not my usual genre of read. I have never disguised the fact that I am not a fan of the romance novel in its basest form, in part very much because of that type of content. Well, let me tell you ladies and gentleman, that if many of them progress as this novel had, I may well have to be a convert. I blush as I write these words because, well, I never thought I would utter them, and that is the truth.

The story will suck you in. I struggled a little with the story at the beginning, though, but was quickly sucked in. Did married couples really refer to each other in conversation together as Mr. and Mrs.? That seemed a little awkward to me, but perhaps that truly was the way things were. I profess no claim at explicit knowledge of the interrelational workings of the time period.

While reading this particular novel, I felt myself in a rather odd predicament. Never had a novel stirred such raw emotion within me that I was...perplexed as to how to write the review without using spoilers. I am still not sure if I will do it justice because of this very fact, but I am trying, folks, really I am.

Really, you would have to read it. I am new to romance and to historical fiction, but I am finding that I really do seem to love them. I don't expect to go all fangirl over the genre, though someday I will most likely eat those words.

Ms. Notariani is a gifted storyteller, based solely on how sucked into a genre of book I NEVER read I am. This to me seems a huge accomplishment on the part of an author, because I feel as though it is her writing alone that has made this change within me.

You really are going to have to read for yourselves. I am stopping myself out of fear that I give something away!

Evangeline's father and Thomas's uncle hatch a plan of match making for them. Evangeline is 22 years old and almost considered an old maid, while Thomas has discovered an unsavory stipulation in his father's will that he marry to continue to receive his inheritance. Both characters are on the opposite sides of the spectrum, or so it appears to the general public. Thomas is snubbed by Evangeline at a party, which is not something he's used to. Ususally women are throwing themselves at his feet for his money or his proess in bed. He finds himself intrigued by her. Evangeline has had the fact that she is plain and too outspoken drilled into her head by her mother, which leaves her perplexed when Thomas is suddenly attentive to her.

Father and Uncle devise a plan to put Evangeline in Thomas's sites. He is warned away from her beautiful, widowed sister, Melody. He is told she is prone to fits of drama and basically told that there is no way he would ever catch Evangeline's eye. She has no wish to marry, her mother has also pounded in the idea that marriage is a chore that women must undertake and give themselves to their husbands, no matter how distasteful the act is. This leaves Evangeline wanting as little to do with marriage as possible and thinks she is safe. Little does she know, that she is slowly stealing Thomas's heart and he has other plans. What starts out as a practical arrangement for Thomas soon becomes a matter of the heart and he finds himself wanting to posses her mind, body, heart and soul.

They are married, due to him carrying Evangeline in the house after she sprains her ankle. For propriety's sake and her good name she agrees. However, she is slowly falling under Thomas's spell as much as he is hers.
