The multi-talented Charles L. Williams has presented one of the best well-written stories I have ever read. A PROMISE FOR ALL SEASONS depicts the life of an African-American man raised with strong morals and values in the South. Williams provides graphic details about that life including slaughtering hogs, chasing chickens for dinner, feasting on old-fashioned candy apples at the carnival, and caring for an ailing mother who succumbs to her illness.

A PROMISE FOR ALL SEASONS brings the reader to Pastoria, Arkansas with vividness as this boy must become a man and adapt to changing environments by holding on to faith and memories. The big city life of South Side, Chicago wakes him up to life's challenges and Williams reveals his conflicts with self to overcome everyday obstacles. Readers get a powerful glimpse of a black man trying desperately to avoid the snares of a criminal life versus homelessness. The U.S. Army drops him off in Baltimore, Maryland where he discovers the pros and cons of being a tenant faced with eviction, to being a Landlord charged with theft. A PROMISE FOR ALL SEASONS presents the seriousness of Williams and his ability to stay focused on God's promises with perseverance. His inspiring solemn journey rewards him with his true love and prosperity in real estate.

Charles Williams, a man of wealth, did not achieve it by waiting for inheritance but by working hard. Charles grew up in the country on a farm, in a small town in Arkansas. His story goes from farm life, bright lights, army life, and wealth ........ to a Promise. " I vowed by the power vested in me through God that not only will I get it right this time but I would become the person that every man, woman, and child should strive to be."
This book is filled with emotional encounters, good as well as not so good. The passing of his role model, "grandfather" was very heart felt. He went from a home of many to a home of loneliness. It teaches a great deal about courage, honor, sacrifice, and the power that lies in each of us.
After reading this book, I can relate to parts of it. It reminds you of life struggles, adversities, and the fact that you can acheive your ultimate goal if you have determination, dedication, faith, love, and a positive attitude.
