Editorial Reviews

Review

"The author's honest heart is strong and his gentle sense of humor engaging. Lincir writes with the energy of a young striker at the start of a big match. Soccer fans will appreciate these tales of life on the pitch." -- Kirkus Reviews

From the Author

I've been through so much in my soccer life that I thought it would be inspiring to share my stories with you. Some stories are inspiring, some funny, some downright embarrassing. In my entire soccer life I was fortunate enough to experience so much and those experiences have helped me become the person I am today. I still love the game and will be involved in it forever.

This books gets to the heart of what it is to be an aspiring athlete. It explores the good the bad, the embarrassing and the successes. You don't have to be a soccer player to enjoy this book, just an American kid growing up with the love of sports. I really enjoyed this easy reading enjoyable book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read! July 27, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Great book for everyone. I'm not a soccer player, but I loved this book! This book is about so much more than soccer....it is about life and its lessons, but told with humor. I picked it up and could not put it down and read the entire book in one sitting. I will be giving this book as gifts to friends. I hope to read much more by Mark Lincir.

5.0 out of 5 stars Orange Slices and the tunnel July 15, 2011
Format:Paperback
A collection of short stories and poems that cause you to reflect on your own soccer career no matter how brief or extensive. The stories take you back to the days where the game seemed more important to the parents rather than the kids that played in it. A great and fun read!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, but okay
This was interesting, though not quite what I expected. It was a little boring in spots and I did have to skip around a little bit to finish it.

1.0 out of 5 stars A soccer life in shorts
I give this book a 1 star out of 5.because at first I was very confused if it was a girl, boy or,kid.and I didn't like that every chapter was different.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a book
This is not a 'book'. It's the length of an essay at best. There is one short story about the author getting sent off in a match that was funny. The rest were mundane incidents. Read more
