Book Description

When a mysterious stranger invades Amethyst, IL, stealing souls to feed a demon and generally ruining Halloween for the local kids, three witches join forces to take him on.

This short novelette reunites Mara, Gus, Aunt Tillie and Grundleshanks the Toad (from the Toadwitch paranormal series) with Stacy Justice, the Geraghty Girls and Thor, the Great Dane, (from the Stacy Justice paranormal mystery series).

As Gus, Mara and Stacy band together, they're bossed around by the cantankerous ghost of Mara's Aunt Tillie, tripped up by the spirit of Lord Grundleshanks the Poisonous Toad, backed up by Stacy's grandmother's coven, and given assistance by a local hoodoo master -- in-between episodes of Antiques Road Show, that is -- but they're still in for the Samhain of their lives.

If they don't stop the stranger's nefarious plan, the only thing they can count on is that all three of their souls will be at risk!

This is a quirky, paranormal adventure that combines thrills and chills with all-out spooky fun. It's a fun, fast-paced read, meant to tide readers over until Miller's and Annino's next full-length novels are released. However, it also works as a stand-alone to introduce new readers to the quirky paranormal world of the main characters.

It includes short excerpts from the paranormal novels "Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She's Dead" and "Opal Fire."

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

This is not a full-length novel. It is a long short story (about 64 pages on my computer, although Amazon pegs it at 52). I just wanted to repeat this warning, because if you're expecting a novel-length story, you're going to be disappointed. But if you go in expecting a short story, I think you'll enjoy the ride.

About the Author

About Christiana Miller
Christiana Miller is a novelist, screenwriter and mom who's led an unusual life. In addition to writing for General Hospital: Night Shift and General Hospital, she's had her DNA shot into space (where she's currently cohabiting in a drawer with Stephen Colbert and Stephen Hawking), and she's been the voices of all the female warriors in Mortal Kombat II and III. If her life was a TV show, it would be a wacky dramedy filled with eccentric characters who get themselves into bizarre situations. Miller's first novel, Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She's Dead, is currently available at Amazon. 5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Short Story From Two Very Talented Authors December 29, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love both Barbra Annino and Christiana Miller so I jumped at the chance to read a book that they created together involving two of my favorite characters to read about.

This is such a well written and fun story. A must read for any fans of the Stacy Justice series or Miller's books.

Engaging from the first page, very tight writing and a creative story. The story of old, young, reluctant and even dead witches made for a great read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very, very short January 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is basically a very short novella. It is primarily a marketing piece to introduce the two series/authors, both of which are excellent. For the price, it is a very good read. I would rather the two authors had taken a very good story idea and written a real book.

The book is a short novella. An ok reading; interesting characters with interesting past built up, and not too original story line.

This is my first glance to the authors and didn't see their other titles yet. Reading other reviews it seems that this piece connects two series. Maybe reading the other books, changes the perspective over this one.

If you didn't read anything from these authors yet and have one hour or so to spare, give this one a chance. It is well written, and it does work as standalone.

Don't expect to close the book with a feeling of content; this is a quick snack, not a three course meal.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Tale of 3 Witches March 4, 2012
By Ivy
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I came across this book when I was looking for the next Stacy Justice book. I found that it was book 2 in the Toad Witch series so had to go back and read the book before this one and then come back to this one. I found it very well written, kept the action going, and made me want to know what was going to happen next. My only bitch about this book is that I don't like the way it ended. It seemed to just drop off the side of a cliff without much of an interaction between all of the main characters, hopefully things will be better the next time that these two series get together again.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Tale of 3 Witches November 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a good short read that progressed very quickly. The characters weren't as defined as in the first book, Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She's Dead, but still a good book.
