Book Description

What if the personal flaws that so often lead you to trouble in your own life could catapult you to success in another’s?
What if they could get you killed?
When a cosmic error suddenly rotates three women — a Manhattan stripper, an Orange County gold merchant’s daughter, and a slumdog in Mumbai — into each others’ lives, they find their personalities and skills remarkably better suited to their counterpart’s life. But a second rotation shows how those same traits can lead them straight to death’s door.
“A Twist of Fate,” is a story about how aspects of your character, your upbringing — and even your clothes — that are liabilities in certain situations can be incredible assets in others.

Contains adult themes and language.

4.0 out of 5 stars Much appreciated! November 27, 2011

I had the chance opportunity to enjoy a cup of tea with this young journalist and her children recently. It was a brief meeting, but I found her to be as remarkable a woman as my wife, a friend of hers, told me she would be. This first novel, or novella if the length of her tale is to be noted, reinforces that first impression. I did not put this book down until I finished it. It was that riveting and it made me want to know more.

These are difficult issues that Shasta Kearnes Moore addresses directly in a compelling and entertaining way. But as philosophical as Moore is clearly capable of being, this first-time novelist chooses not to write a memoir (a readable one I wish to assure you she could), but an emminently readable piece of fiction.

I was amazed at the complexity of her story in the first two-thirds of her book. And impressed with her ability to hold three women, from different places and status, together in a moving story line. And while I might have appreciated something less definitive in its final third--a point I am still pondering, which I guess is an additional measure of the book's worth--I was both entertained by the story as well as enlightened.

I don't get the complexity of what it means to be a woman. Honestly, I don't. And I have little experience living as a minority or someone even more ruthlessly depreciated or categorically misunderstood. But your book ma'am helped. And for that, I'm grateful.

I really enjoy reading but it usually takes me a while to finish a book. When I picked up A twist of Fate I had no idea I was not going to be able to put it down. This book is very intriguing and really makes you wonder if you were born into a different family how would your life differ. A real page turner. I just loved it. I hope to read more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Action packed, clever and philosophical January 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
One recent wintry afternoon, I curled up with a downloaded copy of "A Twist of Fate," a new novella by Shasta Kearns Moore. I could not put the computer down. I'm grateful for this work of intense creativity and fast-paced, multifaceted storytelling. The book's philosophical challenge: Will you be brave enough to see the world as it really is, or content to think of it only as you wish it to be? Wonderful work by a clever and astute literary talent.
