**See Thompson's first book and decide for yourself if you love it -- or hate it!

  • Thank YOU for making A Walk In The Snark a #1 Bestseller on multiple
charts including Motherhood, Parenting & Family, Family
Relationships, Advice/How-To, Women's Studies and more! AND
a Top 100 Overall Paid bestseller!
  • Be forewarned -- the material in this collection has been called controversial in nature. It is a relationship book based on the author's popular blog. There are recurrent themes regarding men and women, love and loss, romance and parenting. This is intentional.
  • It's not ALL humor, but it IS all honest. Can you handle the snark?
Sometimes I think I'm too jaded. Then I think no, it's just the lighting.
Praise for A Walk In The Snark -- now a #1 Bestseller!
5 of 5 stars!
--The commonalities we all share is what makes this book spark to life.
Tony Eldridge, Author, The Samson Effect
--Thank you for making the lives of women and men more intelligible, Rachel, and for making us laugh at ourselves!
Berit Ellingsen, Author, The Empty City
  • Rachel believes "Men are from Seinfeld, Women are from Friends,"
and so do her legions of fans. She dares to ask "Why do men want to
change the world, but can't change a roll of toilet paper?"
  • Are you offended easily? Take satire literally? Don't buy this book.

See why everyone is buying this book! Mancode, Chickspeak, and much, much more!
See why critics love it!

More praise:

Rachel lived in the OC, aka Orange County, CA (home of Disneyland) for over seventeen years and recently moved back to family and friends in the Sacramento, CA area. Somewhere in there, this redhead in a sea of blondes fits in being a full-time wife and mom to her two young children and just one husband. She loves coffee, the occasional dirty martini, and misses sleep.

Rachel was profiled by Sean Gardner (April, 2011) in the Huffington Post Books section regarding social media and ePublishing, was chosen by BlogWorld as one of twenty-three

5.0 out of 5 stars The Author Has Pegged It Right On! March 13, 2011
By Tony
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I downloaded a trial of "A Walk In The Snark" and within 10 minutes, I just had to purchase the rest. I was laughing and rolling my eyes at the same time, while a nagging thought kept asking, "How does this author know me and my wife so well?" I took comfort that there are indeed more men like me and more women like my wife who put up with us. Even the most mundane tasks, like shopping with a list that our wife gave us, seems to be taken right out of my life.

Many authors try to capture the humor in our relationships in a way that is endearing as well. Rachel has done that marvelously. I can only imagine how much women enjoy this book, but to the men out there... trust me, you'll love this book, you'll laugh with it and you'll even try to convince yourself that it isn't really you in there. But the commonalities we all share is what makes this book spark to life.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Walk in the Snark January 26, 2011

I've been reading "Rachelintheoc" since I discovered her blog. She looks at life with a different view and turns little annoyances into funny, heart-warmning, and yes, sarcastic commentary. Her essays bring truth to life, and can be downright laughable, or tear-jerkers, or just head nodding (with thoughts of why didn't I think of it that way.) I thoroughly recommend this book to all men and women who like to look at life from a different viewpoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Talented New Voice February 23, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I met Rachel through her blog and the IBC. Oh lord, is this lady funny! And talented!

A Walk in the Snark is a fine collection of snarky posts about relationships, about men, about woman, about how they interact. It also has some truly heartfelt passages in it about loss, about love and how the two go hand-in-hand.

This is a book worth picking up and reading. It is a refreshing, daring, frank discussion about all things man and woman.

Bravo to Rachel on her debut! I most certainly cannot wait to read more from this very talented writer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rachel in the OC - Let's take a Walk... January 30, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Rachel, Rachel, Rachel.
RachelintheOC.
For the first time in a LONG time, upon reading the very latest from the upwardly mobile west coast suburban mind of "Our Lady in the OC" - I laughed. I just plain laughed.
Words like "Manesia", (I think I have that, often, and the doctor says it's permanent, with me), "Refrigeratoritis" and other brilliant new terms (which I believe will become part of 21st century Americana speech) all come under her own trademarked heading of "The Mancode" and a new and shadowy term and/or secret society she calls: "Chickspeak."
Underneath her "snarky" witty perspective and very clever writing is, I think....a true desire on Rachel's part to change the world, one guy at a time.
So, let the training begin! Wait...What? (guy panic, I'm ok now)
I must announce at this point that I have resolved, Thanks to Ms.R, to be "the man" and actually change the toilet paper roll from now on. Hamper etiquette and other "guy" "rights" were battles long ago fought and LOST, by yours truly. I keep quiet, I cook, take out the trash and do laundry. I even surrender the remote, on occasion. I think Rachel might be very pleased.
(I'm working on the anniversary thing....I swear!)
Rachel's love of 80's rock is quite endearing, as is her instructional manual for women, regarding "war paint" and other personal issues. P.S. - I know what a "Chanel" is: It's ESPN, Discovery and Spike TV, right? Right?
As a guy, I'd rather shovel snow naked in Siberia than have dinner at the "in-laws", though in our case it's just dear old "Mom" (argggg, I just bit my tongue..), but...I do.
Chick Time? Huh? What?
Lists? Huh? What?
Rach- can I call you Rach? Rach has her own way of covering the bases of life from her very own place in the sun.

Seriously, a great read. Take a break from your own daily life and walk through Rachel Carsman Thompson's snark. She hits on everthing in the most hysterical but dead-on way. Want to know why men do what they do? Need to laugh about someone else's children? Wish you had a drink? With trademark humor and wit, @RachelintheOC tells it like is--sipping a martini and tweeting the entire time!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is awesome! June 9, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I came across Rachel through another author and found her to be hilarious and quite insightful in the areas of chick speak and mancode. I couldt wait to read this book and find out what the heck snark was. I was not disappointed. From page one, I laughed until there actual tears! This book was a huge hit and much need diversion from the highly inappropriate conversations at work.
Despite the comedy, I was moved by her sharing the emotional story of her ex. It was truly a great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious and intriguing! February 5, 2011
By FP
Format:Kindle Edition
I had the pleasure of reading A Walk in the Snark, which is Rachel's nonfiction novel about the strange habits of men, chick speak, (or the confusing language of women) and everything in between. If you're looking for a hilarious nonfiction piece from someone who's observed the ins and outs of the OC, then this is the book for you.

Rachel's personality shines through every page of this book. In a way, she reminds me of Chelsea Handler. I enjoyed reading about her observation on men (I mean, why on earth do they insist on wearing funky golf pants?) and her keen eye for women (Why do we say "it's fine" when we mean the total opposite? Do we expect men to read our minds?).

A Walk in the Snark is filled with quirky and hilarious insight. It doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman, you will definitely learn something new from her work.
