More About the Author

April Patton has lived in Oregon her whole life. She grew up on love and wishes, reading fairy tales and other stories featuring strong, female protagonists. A Way to Wish began as a short story; through the encouragement of Patton's family and friends, the pages kept coming, and became the first dream she'd ever held in her hands.

Patton is currently an undergraduate student pursuing art and creative writing at The College of Idaho. She spends most of her time reading and writing, and the rest thinking about reading and writing. A Way to Wish is her first novel.

The only bad thing about Patton's "A Way to Wish" is that it ends! But luckily, I've heard rumors that the author is now working on a sequel! Miss Patton's creativity is astounding; the composition is brilliant. Patton beautifully tells the story of Evie Kiel, who is part Elizabeth Bennett, part Laura Croft, Tomb Raider. Patton develops Evie into a dynamic character we connect with, and she is surrounded by a cast of characters that are mysterious, yet relatable. I've already purchase a copy for my 14-year-old sister! "A Way to Wish" is a must-read for any fantasy lover, but I recommend it to anyone who enjoys imagination, good writing, and an intricate plot.

I read A Way to Wish and then bought a few more to share with my middle school students. I have not seen the books since! My students finish then pass it on to their friends. One of my students came in to class saying she had just finished it, so I told her who had said they wanted it next..She said she wasn't finished, she needed to read it again!!
April Patton, what an amazing young author!

Definitely worth the $10 kindle price I paid. I couldn't wait to get home from work so that I could engulf myself in Evi's world. I am excited to see where this story leads. If you enjoy writers like Aprilynne Pike, Patricia Briggs, Cassandra Clare, you will enjoy April Patton. Although her story targets a young adult reader, I was plenty engaged as an older reader. Totally worth the read....

I finished "A Way to Wish" on Monday and it was an excellent read! I'd enthusiastically recommend this book to anybody who enjoys fantasy stories, engaging characters and witty writing. Ms Patton has fun and unique ideas that really keep you engrossed in the story. I'm hoping for a second book. Now that the "Nightlight has Ascended", I'm ready to know how the new queen will tame Ephea and the unruly faeries. :)
