5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Incredible
Makin Bacon is great ... unlike the other reviews I've never had problems with this product at all. 6-7 minutes in the microwave and you get the crispiest tasty bacon I have ever had! When cooked just place on a paper towel for a minute and that's it. Then dump the grease and throw the entire thing in the dishwasher - fits easily - take up same space as normal dinner...

1.0 out of 5 stars Does Not Work
Contray to the other reviews, this unit does not work for anything over 4 pieces. The reason is that the strips hang vertically and you end up getting half-cooked results. We used it for just 3 days and have come back here to get the Presto 5100 which works perfectly.

We had one of the Presto models in the past, and, as you can see by their product, the...

I eat bacon almost every morning. I had my first Mak'n Bacon years ago. I've bought one for all my family. I've had a couple people say they didn't think it would completely cook the bacon. They must not be leaving it in long enough. I've found that each bacon package cooks different so you have to adjust the length of time. This product is so easy to use and keeps the mess to a minimum. I couldn't live without mine!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gotta Have It, July 23, 2007
This review is from: Makin Bacon® Microwave Rack (Kitchen)
I bought this bacon maker for myself years ago, and it's the best that I have owned. I had to go out and purchase more of them as a gift. It is durable, easy to use, and makes great bacon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Make bacon in your microwave, March 14, 2007
This review is from: Makin Bacon® Microwave Rack (Kitchen)
I've used one of these for years. It is so easy, and the fat winds up in the tray, eliminating much of the unhealthy aspect of eating bacon. You can make up to eight pieces at a time, or you can remove one or two T's and hang only a couple of strips if you like. I remove it after two minutes and pull the bacon apart if the ends are sticking together. It can also be repositioned if the slices are not cooking uniformly. Then I return it to the oven and cook a minute or two more, depending on how many strips are on the T's and how crisp I want it to be. I wrap the finished bacon in a paper towel while my eggs are frying. The Mak'n Bacon washes easily, unlike one of those Microwave bacon trays with the ridges.

Bacon has always been a family treat for breakfast on the weekends, due to the time it takes to cook and clean-up. However, with this bacon cooker we can have bacon any day of the week in just a few minutes with no mess! The cooker works great, but avoid trying to cook too much bacon at one time otherwise it will cook unevenly. 12 pieces as pictured on the box is too much. I recommend only cooking 6 pieces at a time (one per row), but try it for yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Perfect!, June 24, 2009
This review is from: Makin Bacon® Microwave Rack (Kitchen)
We bought this unit last week the morning of a big brunch we were putting on for Fathers Day. We had bought a microwave bacon cooker in a kitchen store the week before and it melted the first time we used it. We bought the Makin Bacon being a little doubtful of it's performance. Well were we in for a nice surprise. On Fathers Day morning we cooked four pounds of bacon one batch after another and it performed perfectly! No melting, no drooping, and the only surprise was how well it worked. After each batch we simply emptied the grease out into an old margarine container, loaded it up again and then back into the microwave. I really can not see what some of the reviewers here are complaining about, I would reccomend Makin Bacon to anyone who is looking for a better way to cook bacon. It uses one sheet of paper towel to keep the spatter down. Before we were using 6-8 sheets on a plate to absorb the grease. For us it is a keeper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cooking bacon a breeze!, March 17, 2010

I dreaded using the round, grooved plate with a lid to cook bacon in the microwave. I could cook only 4 or 5 pieces at a time and the plate always became stained brown and no matter how I scrubbed, it never looked clean. And the lid would look bad after a while, too. Storing it took up a fair amount of space as well.

This cooker allows you to cook a pound in one fell swoop! So much faster!

The only draw back for me--and I don't know if others have experienced this--is that if you like your bacon crispy, it is virtually impossible to get it off the "hangers" and unbend it without breaking it. So we eat our bacon bent in half!

Other than that, it's totally worth the money. And takes up just a little storage space. Cheapest at Wal-mart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't cook bacon without it!, October 15, 2010

This review is from: Makin Bacon® Microwave Rack (Kitchen)
This product is just great -- takes up little storage space, only leaves a little mess in the microwave (as opposed to spattering all over your stove or oven), cleans up in the dishwasher, and most importantly, does a great job at what it's supposed to do! Makes nice crispy strips of bacon in large or small quantities, just by draping the slices on top, covering with a paper towel and microwaving on high 1/2 to 1 minute per slice til it's done. The fat drains into the pan and the bacon is nice and crisp. You can easily see if you need to add a little time by peeking under the paper towel.

The slices are bent in the middle, but unless you're a purist who HAS to have straight perfect slices as an aesthetic thing, then it's just not an issue. And since I like mine crisp, to avoid the two halves cooking together, I usually drape one slice over two supports.

For those who've complained that the bacon is raw, etc., maybe their microwaves don't have turntables or some other issues. I use it practically every day, with terrific results. This is one kitchen gadget I wouldn't be without -- so far I've purchased 2 and given another one as a gift!

5.0 out of 5 stars I JUST LOVE IT!, February 3, 2010
This review is from: Makin Bacon® Microwave Rack (Kitchen)
My microwave oven constantly turns, so cooking bacon in a large square container doesn't work. I absolutely love Makin Bacon because it is compact yet can cook up to 12 slices of bacon at once. Storage and clean-up is easy to. This is my second Makin Bacon and I plan to keep on using this product.

works just as advertised. Just make sure to put paper towel over top before microwaving, stops the grease splatter and the paper towel is not affected by the microwave. The tool does an excellent job. Wish I had purchased one years ago. Cleanup is easy in the dishwasher!
