5.0 out of 5 stars I Changed My Travel Plans Because Of This Nifty Book, January 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: AAA Hidden Highways of Arizona (Aaa Series) (Paperback)
I bought an older edition of HIDDEN HIGHWAYS OF ARIZONA, but what I read caused me to change my route plans, and I'm glad I did. My husband and I went on our second honeymoon in January 2010, and we had planned to drive up I-17 and then head East on I-40. But after looking through this book, we decided to take Highway 60 to Globe, then head North on highway 77. I'm so glad we did! The scenery was beautiful, I had to drive carefully because the geology was so beautiful it was distracting. We drove past the Superstition Mountains, through the hoodoo-haunted Devil's Canyon, and into Salt River Canyon -- magnificent!

We took a recommended alternate route to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon as well, a lovely drive, using highways 64 and 180. And a restaurant listed in the guide was right next to our hotel in Holbrook, the Butterfield Stage Company. The food was excellent -- which is why we ate there two night in a row.

This guide really enhanced our trip. I will continue to refer to it in the future.
