1.0 out of 5 stars Isn't living up to expectations and not functioning as described
I ordered this to provide some security and notification if there may be a problem at home while I'm away. The reviews looked good so I ordered it. Installation was easy provided I followed the instructions outlined in reviews at Amazon and did not the poorly written guidebook that came with the system. Had a phone jack installed so that I could plug it into the phone...

Considering the cost of this system is hundreds of dollars less than similar wireless systems with the same components and features this is an excellent alternative for someone who wants the safety and protection of a home security system but does not want to invest thousands of dollars in system costs and monitoring fees.

It was very simple to set up and works like a charm. I must admit its my first ever install of this kind and I must say that I was impressed with myself but then again they made it simple so I could be impressed.

I ordered this to provide some security and notification if there may be a problem at home while I'm away. The reviews looked good so I ordered it. Installation was easy provided I followed the instructions outlined in reviews at Amazon and did not the poorly written guidebook that came with the system. Had a phone jack installed so that I could plug it into the phone line for notifications and control the system from the cell phone. It was plugged into a conventional Verizon land line; not an internet phone service. As it turns out, the control panels intercepts every call after three rings even though we set it for ten rings. We sent an email to the manufacturer and this was their response(copied and pasted) - "The wireless keypad is interferring with your phone line.do you have a internet phone service?this happened rarely but happened before. We can't do anythong about it ,sorry to say so,it depends on your phone service company." We've also discovered that if the alarm is triggered, it was not calling some of the phone numbers we'd programmed into the control unit. Furthermore, now we realized that we can turn it on from the cell phone but can't turn it off. Based on the way the system is operating, I'm only confident in using it while I'm home which makes it basically worthless.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and unreliable, February 27, 2011

I purchased this system because I was not sure how long I would be living in my present home and did not want to get into an expensive system or contracts. After several hours of my time and a lot of aggravation, I finally got the system to work--sort of. The "pet immune" part of the system obviously applies only to the motion detectors and these work by essentially eliminating the lower section of the horizontal plane so that your pet walks under the detection area. Of course, a burglar could also do the same thing by getting down on all fours and creeping past the detector and moving on to the central unit, which is easy to locate because of the loud siren attached to it, and quickly disabling it. In terms of the components themselves, they look and feel very cheap and unreliable. The truth is that I have only used the burglar alarm twice when away from the house and both times there have been false alarms-- probably because of my two 35 pound dogs. I suspect that when they play, they are jumping around and go high enough to trip the motion detectors. On the subject of setting up the system, I would have to say that the directions given are both incomplete and not always accurate. This forced me to contact the seller who was initially pleasant, but seemed more and more impatient as it became necessary to make further phone calls. The bottom line is that I now have $300 in a system that I do not trust to be reliable and seemingly does not work properly unless your pet is the size of a gerbil. I'm still trying to make it more usable, but even if I get to this point, I doubt that I will trust it very far and expect the components to start breaking down in a fairly short period of time. At least one door/window sensor was defective right off the bat and now one of the key chain remotes is only working intermittently. I have not even tested all of the components, because I did not want to fool with setting them all up and having to replace all the batteries. Truth is that I would have sent the whole thing back, except for the fact that I've got so much time and effort into setting the thing up. If I had it to do again, I'd probably just opt for some cheapo type of set-up like they sell at Harbor Freight and be done with it for a lot less money and probably a lot less headaches.

I have used this system for a couple of months now and also added a remote keypad on my front door. The combination of the keypad and more familiarity with the system has made it considerably more practical for me to use. Although I still have concerns about the quality of the components, and still do not feel at all comfortable using the motion detectors with my two dogs in the house, I am now feeling somewhat more positive about the system in general. Maybe with some more time, I will begin have more confidence in the system. We shall see.
