My son does not particularly enjoy reading himself, but this book series is one that he happily read. I highly recommend for any child that is interested in animals and some of the gross and interesting things that they do. We went to the zoo after reading this series too and my son had a ball seeing some of the animals from this series. He thinks these books are cool.

My daughter, who loves animals, adores this book -- it's been her bedtime choice for several nights running. The author simply and accurately explains how various animals use tricks such as camouflage, changing color, playing dead, appearing more ferocious, and other skills to either scare predators away or lure prey in. Definitely recommended for kids who love animals.

though this book is designed for readers 4-7, it can teach a lot of things to adults too about how animals fake it out to survive. there are ant-mimic spiders, caddis worms and even fainting goats! my nephew loved this book as i read it along with him!

My budding marine biologist 6 year old grandson particularly loves this little paperback. I learned a lot of facts that were a surprise to me, too.
