I purchased 2 organizers -- and I'm returning this one. The structure is inflexible and inefficient. (27 pages to document incomplete info about my family?!) It's not well organized. I'm keeping Nolo's Get it Together. It's a similar product, but better meets my needs.

This 250 page "checklist" makes the process unnecessarily complicated if you do not have an extensive estate. Most of this information is common sense that if you spend a day thinking about it, you'll know what to do. The online forms are buried on the ABA website and anyone can print those out for free, once they find them. The book would have been more useful if the pages were perforated so that you can remove what you actually need and put in a binder.

As with any universal product, the checklists included are mostly useful, and also have a lot of areas not applicable to my needs. Just use what you need. The AARP link to the PDF files works on some computers and not others, mostly due to security settings. If a DVD version of the forms was available, they would be worth $10 or so if mailing was included.

It says in the preview that this book is meant to be written in, so why was it not made to lie flat so you can write on the left pages? It should be a spiral notebook type. It is hard enough trying to write on the right side and holding down the left pages; it is super awkward writing on the left side of the book. Also, I just started filling it in and although it has many pages for information that I don't need (which is okay), it only had one entry for "insurance agent". Don't many people have more than one insurance agent, for different needs and different family members? So far, I am not very impressed by this book; I should not have relied on AARP's recommendation alone. Due to the non-user-friendliness of this product, this is probably one of those projects that I start with good intentions, but never finish.

This was a difficult workbook to complete (250 pages) because one does not like to think about being incapacitated or worse. But it will be extremely helpful when the need arises for your heirs to refer to the information contained within, especially if heirs do not live close by or your spouse is forgetful.
The author smartly advises you to write in pencil, and review it yearly to make corrections and updates. Each of the 10 chapters has checklists to help you gather all the relevant information needed. There are definitions about the items included in each chapter to help you understand why each is important.
I would recommend this book/workbook for everyone over 50--it will help you "get all your ducks in a row."

Don't know why AARP doesn't offer such documents complimentary to its members. I was able to download a similar document at "What My Family Needs To Know," a free government PDF document with many similar pages.

This book has all the information you need to know, and so much more that I never thought of, all in one place. Instead of having to search all over and talk to different people, this book has all the information you could want in a step by step, methodical sequence. I believe it's a book that would help anyone prepare, and to do the best for their family and loved ones. The book was in brand new condition, and shipping was very fast. I recommend this highly as a useful tool that will help those that want to organize their affairs, wishes, and even family history. A book with information that eventually we will all have a need for. Highly recommended!!!

A lot of work, but helps setting up a database or spreadsheet for needed information.
