I bought this because we live in southern California and I was sick of dealing with an umbrella on our windy beaches. This tent goes up quickly and packs up quickly. The pockets on the side filled with sand easily keep the tent in place and are no problem to empty when you're ready to go. The shades allow you to see out, but keep the area inside the tent nice and cool. You can leave the zipper front open for a breeze or close it up to block most of the wind. Fits three adults laying down very comfortably and there's no stooping down because the tent is nice and tall. My one complaint is that bugs fly in and then can't figure out how to leave. They gather along the screen, so they aren't a nuisance - just kind of gross. We have gotten many compliments on the tent and I'm looking forward to a nice summer on the beach because of it. Highly recommended!

I was extremely happy with the tent when we got it. My husband was able to set it up within minutes. Well, we came to a beach when it was windy and guess what? The plastic that holds the tent started to bend and the tent collapsed on us. I looked around and saw that other peoples' umbrellas and tents were FINE. I don't know what this tent is for because in California one should expect the wind at any time! I am very upset. I wish I could return it, but I it's past 30 days!

Just Perfect,

I purchased this tent for a beach trip with my 16 month old and our family. I wanted something that went up easily and was large enough for a couple of chairs and a play area. The tent is floorless so it was perfect for my baby to get out of the sun and play in the sand. It went up VERY quickly with no problems. We didn't even use the stakes provided. We simply filled the pockets with sand and that was enough to support it. The day we used it there was minimal wind so I can't say how it would hold up in a strong wind but for us it was perfect. The easy set-up was well worth the money. It is a fairly large tent but nothing overwhelming. We fit two chairs and a cooler under the tent and still had room for the little one to play.

We got this to take with us on our beach vacation. It goes up very easily and stays in place very well. The big issue is that is buckles when there's even a small breeze. The first day we used it it worked OK but was buckling under the breeze. It wasn't a very strong breeze at all. In fact, for the beach, it was very mild. The next day was a more typical beach day and this thing just kept buckling. One of the legs actually twisted. When I went to take it down, the handle you pull broke off. I ended up buying a cheap beach umbrella ($13) that held up fine in the breeze. I wish I had returned this as soon as I got home but now it is one day past the return date.
SUMMARY: Do NOT buy this if you plan on using it when there's even a slight breeze. You won't be too pleased.

Purchased this item for a beach trip to Florida with myself, husband and 18 month-old daughter. My husband and I did a practise run set-up before we left for Florida... The tent was easy to put up, but a bit hard to take down (the tent seemed a bit 'stiff' but I thought, hey, it's new.). I did both the assembly and disassembly as we wanted to see if I could manage by myself.
Day one at the beach: set-up was easy as before, and our little one loved having a place to play in the sand out of the sun. As other reviewers noted, the only issue we had was that the screen is a bit too fine to let the breeze flow through. Otherwise, worked well on a windy beach with only the sand pockets filled. I've used products with sand pockets before, and these are much better thought out (not too deep) than most. The trouble started when I went to take down the tent. The sand was easy to remove from the pockets, but when I started to pull on the rope, the silly thing wouldn't budge. I pulled with all my might, and two of the stupid legs broke at the topmost hinges. Now, I'm 5'8" and 140# - not exactly a football player. Needless, to say, we were rather upset. We decided to exchange the tent for a new one because we liked the design, and thought there may have been a flaw in the first one they sent us. Exchange through Amazon was quick and painless and we had the new tent in 2 days. So, kudos to Amazon for their return system. HERE IS THE IMPORTANT PART!!!! I just assembled the new tent for the first time. It was just as easy as the other tent. After gingerly trying to pull on the disassembly rope & getting some stiffness, I stopped and examined the tent. The pull-down handle had been tied to the WRONG poles!!! Based on two stickers attached to the legs which frame the door, THESE are the two legs which need to be pulled to collapse the tent. I was able to use one hand to put the necessary pressure on the legs to collapse the tent successfully. I'm SURE that this was the problem with the first tent. All I did was re-attach the end of the handle that was tied to the wrong pole. I'm so excited that we'll have our shelter for our next trip to the beach in two weeks!

I was psyched about this spacious tent to be used at the beach so a couple of grownups and their kids could have shade. The thing was awkward putting up but doable once you got the hang of it. Yes, the tent was huge, but my goodness that thing did not BREATHE. Granted, we were out at 1pm on a 90-degree plus day, but still, the thing actually blocked the breeze instead of ventilating it. The mesh panels are just too fine.
It would be helpful to have optional side panels that either zip or roll up. As is, the panels cannot be rolled up like a shade so you are stuck with the sauna. Even my three-year-old preferred the blazing sun to it. It would be fine for night camping or fall / winter outings, but certainly not for breathable beach shade in the heat of summer (when you need / crave it most).

I bought this for an extended weekend at the beach with my mom and Aunt. Neither of them can be in the sun for extended periods of time for various reasons and this canopy did not disappoint! Once we figured out how to set it up, it took just a couple minutes and taking down was a breeze. The temperature inside the canopy was so much cooler than the outside. It allowed all of us to enjoy the beach and each other. Definitely recommend this product!
