Was able to replace a failed clutch on my 2000 Dakota in a couple hours.

I think the following tools are essential to a quick replacement;
Two large slotted screwdrivers ( used as prybars and punches )
Hammer
Snap-ring pliers
Socket set ( many different sizes )
Locktite ( Medium Strength )
One tywrap

The clutch comes with a good set of instructions on the removal and installation, which suggested many of the tools I mentioned above. BE CAREFUL to not over-tighten the shaft nut! I would have finished the job in about two hours if I hadn't snapped the shaft on my compressor from over-tightening the nut at the end of the job. I was able to salvage the project by drilling out and tapping the center of the shaft ( 1/4-20 ) and using a grade 5 bolt and some washers to secure the clutch to the compressor shaft. Use locktite on the shaft end - and tighten the nut onto the shaft as if you were dealing with aluminum threads ( don't over-tighten ) , it didn't take much torque to break the shaft.

1999 dodge dakota 3.9 v6
My skill level is above average because i'm a car guy, but i'm not a mechanic.
I didn't have high hopes for this kit considering the original bearing disentigrated causing the belt to lock up. When i removed the clutch the magnet was also torn to hell.
Since the truck isn't used that much i didn't want to invest alot of time or money in disconnecting the compressor because the system would have to be vacuumed and charged.
So i bought this kit.

Unbelievably, so far it works perfect.

Pretty basic install, you will need snap ring pliers, a good set that allow you to change the tips. (like $35 at pepboys, but i already had them).

Also need a ratchet set.

My bearing was broken and the center locked on the hub, i split it with a dremel and popped it off.

I took out all the top mounting bolts and tilted the compressor upwards at an angle without disconnecting any AC lines to work on it.

I used all the shims it came with, although the original just had one. I found that without them all if i tightened down the nut on the clutch it binded a bit.

As long as your ac worked right when your bearing went, i'd recommend this kit.

Almost forgot, there are no directions, that's why i gave it 4 stars. A 5 star review may have made it sound too easy to a novice.
