Questionable, sloppy tabs,
By A Customer
This review is from: AC/DC: Back In Black (AC/DC) (Paperback)
As another reviewer noted, there are indeed some suspect, if not sloppy and downright incorrect, tabs in this book. "You Shook Me All Night Long" begins with a composite tab of what sounds to me like multiple/overdubbed rhythm parts, without acknowledging multiple rhythm parts. Some rhythm and solo parts of that same song seem to be tabbed flat-out wrong, for that matter. The book doesn't even bother to transcribe the outro solo to "Back in Black."The only other AMSCO tab book I've bought, a Black Sabbath anthology, is equally weak.

INCORECT TABS!,
By Micheal Hunt (Hellbourne) - See all my reviews
This review is from: AC/DC: Back In Black (AC/DC) (Paperback)
Beware when purchasing any AMSCO books that tab AC/DC.... some are correct, but alot, infact TOO MANY are tabbed incorectly... i dont just mean there in wrong positions... i mean they havent even tabbed the same song... its half and half with this book... half the songs are ok and correct.... half are bad and sloppy...dont pay any more then $10 for this. There is too much that is incorect. AMSCO dont even take the time to realise they have incorect tabs, because there still putting the same WRONG tabs into there latest books! Avoid AMSCO, or dont pay alot.

I bought this for my son because he likes AC/DC. He says the book is OK. Recently I've read other reviews that claim the transcriptions aren't all that accurate, but I can't really say. I give it 3 stars for that reason but you'll have to judge for yourself.

AMSCO Strikes Out Again!,

This review is from: AC/DC: Back In Black (AC/DC) (Paperback)
What is it with AMSCO and guitar tab books? This is not the first one I've got and every one of them fall apart and the pages come off the spine due to very poor book binding. Oddly enough, this book is in a lot better condition relative to my other AMSCO ones but it looks like it's just a matter of time before it meets the same fate as the others.
In fairness to them though they did not say that this is a note-for-note transcription and so as in the case of "Back in Black", the muted count in intro is not tabbed although the rest of the tab is pretty accurate except for the second outro guitar solo where they got lazy and decided not to transcribe it leaving it to us with the italicised phrase "Ad lib solo on repeats" which is unfortunate as I really wanted some help with that solo but now that I've progressed as a guitarist I guess I could figure it out myself although all those years ago when I got this book it would have been useful to know. "You Shook Me All Night Long" was the first track that I learnt and have since committed to memory and it is actually very accurate as I have played it along with the cd many times and I think I just made corrections for a couple of notes at the beginning of the solo but otherwise it is transcribed well enough in my opinion. The print is in a good size for easy reading which is a plus point but I agree with the other reviewers that this is not a note-for-note transcription of everything that is going on in the tracks but it focuses solely on the guitar parts and is at least 95% accurate for the most part and so I am mostly happy with this product although I do wish they didn't get lazy with "Back In Black" and that the book binding was done better to stand the test of time. Not perfect but not a total waste either. |
